Andy Swales provides the form stats for this week's lucrative European Tour event at the Mediterranean resort of Antalya.

"Slightly further down the food chain are Shane Lowry and Thomas Pieters who are both capable of winning at the top table. The pair are former world top-25 players who have slipped down the Ranking but are showing signs of improved form in recent weeks and months."

With just three weeks remaining on this season's European Tour schedule, the players have headed to the Mediterranean resort of Antalya for the sixth instalment of the Turkish Airlines Open.

The tournament is the sixth of eight events in the Tour's Rolex Series and, for a third straight year, takes place at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa.

This largely flat 10-year-old venue is situated less than half-a-mile from the beach but, despite its near-coastal location in southern Turkey, is a heathland course laid out within a pine forest.

With tree-lined fairways, and water hazards on 10 holes, accuracy from tee-to-green will be of paramount importance.

Opened in November 2008, the course was designed by Thomson Perrett & Lobb, a company founded by the late Peter Thomson, a five-time winner of The Open Championship.

Usual Suspects

By Tour standards, a reasonably strong field has assembled in Antalya and it would be a huge surprise if this week's winner was not one of the bigger names teeing-up.

Defending champion Justin Rose is the biggest of them all, and he continues to churn out excellent performances most weeks. His last five starts read: 3rd-8th-4th-2nd-2nd.

His compatriot, Tommy Fleetwood, is almost as consistent, along with a third Englishman Tyrrell Hatton whose poor weeks are becoming less frequent.

The 2016 Regnum winner Thorbjorn Olesen was fifth 12 months ago and he arrives in southern Europe on the back of finishing tied-seventh in China over the weekend.

Hao Tong Li, runner-up to Olesen two years ago, is on a good run of form and has just returned to the world's top 50.

In The Running

Slightly further down the food chain are Shane Lowry and Thomas Pieters who are both capable of winning at the top table.

The pair are former world top-25 players who have slipped down the Ranking but are showing signs of improved form in recent weeks and months.

Lowry was runner-up on his last outing at the tricky Valderrama layout, while Pieters has posted a string of top-20 finishes since early June.

Form Players

After a two-week break, Tom Lewis is back in action as he attempts to extend his run of five successive top-10s.

Lewis won in Portugal during September, although this week's field will be slightly stronger than most of those events he teed-up in.

And if you are looking for someone with slightly longer odds in Turkey, then Andrea Pavan might be your man.

The Italian collected his breakthrough win in late August and he continues to play with confidence, while locating more Greens in Regulation than the majority of his rivals.

He ended 2017 outside the world's top 750 but, at present, is edging closer to a position in the leading 100.
