Andy Swales supplies course and current form stats for this week's Trophee Hassan II, as the European Tour tees-up in north Africa.
"The consistent James Morrison could be ready to pounce in this fairly modest field."
The European Tour heads to Morocco for its one and only event this year in north Africa.
This week's Trophee Hassan II provides the Tour's rank and file members with their first competitive action for over a month.
Designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam was opened in 1971.
It is a flat, tree-lined layout, with very little in the way of water.
Situated close to the centre of Rabat, and Morocco's north coast, Royal Golf Dar Es Salam will be hosting the event for the third time since 2010.
Unfortunately, due to limited course data, and with many of those teeing-up having not played competitively for a few weeks, solid stats are a little bit thin on the ground.
One golfer with a pretty good pedigree is Joost Luiten, who is a tried-and-tested winner on Tour.
The Dutchman is one of a handful of players competing in Morocco with a world ranking of lower than 80, and he also tied-14th at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in 2010.
There is a strong South African presence this week with Brandon Stone, Dean Burmester and Dylan Frittelli leading the charge.
Of these three, Burmester was a top-20 performer last year and is full of confidence having already tasted victory on the European Tour during March.
The consistent James Morrison could be ready to pounce in this fairly modest field, all of which makes it the perfect setting for one of the Tour's up-and-coming golfers to taste the thrill and tension of contention.
These include Aaron Rai, Jordan Smith and Paul Dunne, and perhaps Sweden's Alexander Bjork who won on the Challenge Tour last July.
Note: In 2010, the tournament was staged over two courses, with three rounds on the Red and one on Royal Golf Dar Es Salam's Blue.
