Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell share a laugh during a practice round at Augusta
"I'd be genuinely surprised if McIlroy's not in the top half dozen here and would advise backing him in the top GB & Ireland market as well as outright."
Our regular US golf watcher Dan Geraghty picks his trio to trust at the Masters
I would likely follow Phil Mickelson over a cliff and I'm not going to stop now. Phil's preparation hasn't been ideal but it's been a damn sight better than Tiger's. Phil disappointed me last week but it seems he didn't disappoint himself. Lefty saw the Houston Open as an ideal opportunity to get ready for the Masters and nothing more. On Sunday, he reeled off six birdies in a row on a course where birdies were few and far between. If Tiger is a [6.0] chance, I'm more than happy to take [15.5] about Lefty.
Rory McIlroy is turning into the forgotten man, he's not played as much golf as many of his peers this past two months and when he has played he's largely flattered to deceive BUT I am yet to lose faith and much of young Rory's work this past few months will have been leading towards this week. McIlroy has spent plenty of time practising at Augusta recently and last week's missed cut may be a blessing in disguise. I'd be genuinely surprised if he's not in the top half dozen here and would advise backing him in the top GB & Ireland market as well as outright.
Dustin Johnson is arguably the most likely of the new breed of US golfers to win a Major. Anthony Kim might have something to say about that but two wins in a row is tough at the bset of times, let alone when facing Augusta. Johnson played well here last year on his Masters debut and comes into this week as a three time PGA Tour winner. If he can keep the big numbers off the card, Dustin may surprise a few this week.
Dangers: TIGER! TIGER! TIGER! PADRAIG! TIGER!
Bubba Watch: A good effort from Bubba last week and another top 15 finish. Unfortunately he's not made the field here and "has the next two weeks off to fish at the lakes".

Selections: Phil Mickelson [15.5], Rory McIlroy [60], Dustin Johnson [65]
Top UK & Ireland: Rory McIlroy [9.2]
