Dan Fitch looks at the numbers which represent the records and statistics of the US Masters.
More than most sports, golf is defined by numbers and unusually, it's the players who score the least who are the most successful.
April sees the starts of the 2001 Masters Golf Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club. Here are the numbers that define the prestigious tournament.
3 - The number of players who have won consecutive Masters titles. Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods all won two Masters tournaments in a row.
4 - The most times that any player has been runner-up. Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf were all runners-up on four occasions.
6 - The record number of Masters titles won by Jack Nicklaus. The next most successful players are Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods, who have both won the tournament four times.
11 - The largest amount of birdies scored in one round by Anthony Kim in 2009.
12 - The record margin of victory enjoyed by Tiger Woods, as he won the 1997 Masters by twelve-strokes.
14 - The number of Masters tournaments that have been decided by a play-off.
15 - The record amount of top five finishes held by Jack Nicklaus.
16 - The age of the youngest player at the Masters. Matteo Manassero was aged 16 years and 356 days when he played in the 2010 Masters. In that championship, he also became the youngest player to have made the cut.
18 - The record number of strokes that Tiger Woods finished under par, as he won the 1997 Masters.
21 - The age of Tiger Woods when he won his first Masters in 1997. At 21 years and 104 days he remains the youngest player to have won the tournament.
22- The record number of top ten finishes held by Jack Nicklaus.
23 - The record number of consecutive cuts made by both Gary Player and Fred Couples. Player made the cut every year between 1959 and 1982 (he did not compete in 1973 due to illness), while Couples did likewise between 1983 and 2007 (not competing in 1987 and 1994).
24 - The number of Masters championships that took place before Gary Player won the 25th, to become the first non-American winner of the tournament. Player is one of only 11 non-American winners of the championship. Between them they have won the title 18 times.
25 - The most amount of birdies hit by a player in a single tournament, was the 25 by Phil Mickelson in 2001.
29 - The lowest ever score on the back nine. Both Mark Calcavecchia in 1992 and David Toms in 1998, scored 29 on the back nine.
30 - The lowest ever score on the front nine. Johnny Miller in 1975, Greg Norman in 1988, K.J. Choi in 2004 and Phil Mickelson in 2009, have all hit a 30 on the front nine.
34 - The amount of Americans who have won the Masters title. Between them the 34 Americans have won 56 of the 74 championships contested.
36 - The number of champions who have received the Green Jacket, since the first one was awarded to Sam Snead in 1949.
37 - The record number of cuts made by Jack Nicklaus.
46 - The age of Jack Nicklaus won he won his last Masters in 1986. At 46 years and 82 days, he remains the eldest player to have won the tournament.
50 - The highest number of consecutive appearances made by Arnold Palmer between 1955 and 2004.
52 - The record number of Masters appearances made by Gary Player.
63 - The course record that is jointly held by Nick Price, who scored 63 in 1986, and Greg Norman, who repeated the feat in 1996. The score is also a record for all major championships.
66 - The lowest score by an amateur was the 66 by Ken Venturi in 1956.
270 - The lowest aggregate score after 72 holes, recorded by Tiger Woods, when he won the 1997 Masters.
278 - The lowest total score by a player making his first Masters appearance, was the 278 by Toshi Izawa in 2001.
281 - The lowest amateur score set by Charles R. Coe in 1961.
283 - The lowest score ever recorded by a senior player was the 283 by Jack Nicklaus in 1998, aged 58.
289 - The highest ever winning score at the Masters (+1) has occurred on three occasions. Sam Snead won with a 289 in 1954, Jack Burke Jnr did the same in 1956 and Zach Johnson joined them in the record books in 2007.
506 - The record number of Masters' birdies hit by Jack Nicklaus.
1,350,000 - The amount of US dollars given in prize money to Phil Mickelson when he won the 2010 Masters.
