Punters backing in-form consecutive Mickelson for Augusta win but British players could well be in contention...

For the first time in Betfair's 11-year history, troubled star Tiger Woods is not the favourite to win the US Masters, starting tomorrow in Augusta. Defending champion Phil Mickelson is the market leader at [8.0], with Woods the second favourite at [12.0].

Leading the charge for the Brits is current world number two Lee Westwood. Having narrowly missed out on the title in 2010, the Worksop man can be backed at 16-1 to don the famous green jacket this time around.

Having made the cut in each of his three Masters appearances Nick Watney, who has enjoyed a flying start to the season, is a [18.0] chance for glory. German [26.0] shot Martin Kaymer, currently top of the world rankings, will be hoping to make it to the weekend's play for the first time.

Betfair's Alex Bake said: "Tiger Woods' problems off the course have been well documented. He hasn't won a tournament since he returned to the game last year and, coupled with Phil Mickleson's return to form last week at the Houston Open, the 14-time Major champion finds himself in an unfamiliar position in the pre-tournament betting.

"There are plenty of Brits who have the ability to be in the mix come the final few holes on Sunday evening, with Westwood undoubtedly the leading contender. There will be lots of Betfair customers hoping he can go one step further than he did 12 months ago."

Latest Masters Odds: Mickelson [8.0], Woods [12.0], Westwood [17.0], Watney [18.0], Kaymer [26.0], Donald [30.0], Mahan, [32.0] Johnson, [34.0] McIlroy, [38.0] Kuchar; Rose.
