Wyndham Championship Update: Will Garcia convert third round lead?

Sergio Garcia holds a one shot lead at the Wyndham Championship

Mike Norman updates the current state of affairs on the PGA Tour with just one round of the Wyndham Championship to play...

"Add in the fact that he plays 'birdie-fest' courses in calm conditions really well then he is your man to beat later today."

Back Jason Dufner @ 7.26/1

Sergio Garcia leads the Wyndham Championship with just today's final round to go and he will be hoping that history doesn't repeat himself as he looks to win his first PGA Tour title since winning The Players in 2008.

The last time Garcia played at Sedgefield Country Club he shared the third-round lead but ended up finishing fourth overall after falling one shot shy of the winner.

The loveable Spaniard will have to hold off a bunched pack of chasers however, with no less than 16 players being within four shots of the lead including defending champion Webb Simpson and the in form duo of Jason Dufner and Carl Pettersson.

Picking the winner from here is not going to be easy with the course playing very kind and a host of birdie opportunities being offered up. Add in the fact that there's Ryder Cup points at stake (a win for Garcia would be huge in that regard), and that this is the last event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, then there's sure to be a few nerves on show on Sunday evening when Sky Sports broadcast the live action.

It's impossible to see Jimmy Walker and Simpson enduring as poor rounds as they did on Saturday, so at just two and four shots back respectively there might be some back to lay potential in those two, but for an outright Winner bet then chance your arm with Dufner.

This vastly improved American star is perhaps the most relaxed man in world golf currently. Both his Ryder Cup and FedEx Cup participations are assured, and his current form is arguably the hottest of anyone on tour right now. Add in the fact that he plays 'birdie-fest' courses in calm conditions really well then he is your man to beat later today.
