WGC - Bridgestone Invitational: Third round 2-balls

Will Rickie put yesterday's poor round behind him

Dan Geraghty previews today's third round 2-balls at the Bridgestone Invitational...

"Fowler has a tendency to throw in a shocking round like Friday's, but I thought he played well in round one and was fantastic here last year."

First thing to say is that Thongchai Jaidee has withdrawn, meaning Tom Lewis must play the third round in his own company, sparing me from wasting more money backing him to beat Michael Hoey, who is currently one stroke ahead in their battle at the wrong end of the leaderboard.

Speaking of the also rans, Rickie Fowler was expected to be found at the right end of the leaderboard, but finds himself playing with an out-of-sorts Toru Taniguchi in the second two ball out tomorrow. Fowler has a tendency to throw in a shocking round like Friday's, but I thought he played well in round one and was fantastic here last year. I'll give him a chance to bounce back and beat Taniguchi tomorrow.

Niclas Colsaerts improved markedly on his first round with a 68 on day two. I expect him to finish the week strongly and enhance his Ryder Cup claims by climbing the leaderboard this weekend, beating Thomas Bjorn in the process.

It didn't quite happen for Martin Laird on day two, but I feel he would have overhauled Lee Slattery in another few holes. I think the course suits the Scot and I will stick with him on Friday as he partners the popular Bo Van Pelt.

Bill Haas has barely featured this year since his marvelous FedEx cup triumph. However, he's appeared on leaderboards in the past few weeks and looks to be edging back into form; Haas can continue his return to form with a good finish this weekend. Scott Piercy might be outclassed.

Triple Jumping Keegan Bradley looks a must to beat Simon Dyson who has performed with great credit so far, despite being under the weather all week. However, it has been a long week, and American Bradley will be hard to match if Dyson isn't 100%.

Finally, Luke Donald is nap material to beat Lee Slattery as the weekend heat is turned up.
