As part of our coverage of the Turkish Airlines Open, Daniel Geraghty looks at the 1st Round three-balls and picks out some golfers well worth backing...

"Being the defending champion seemed to get Ian Poulter's juices flowing in Shanghai last week, where he finished second. However, at the three-ball prices he looks worth opposing with Lee Westwood who has been known to peak at this time of year himself."

In the circumstances, Tiger Woods performed with credit during his defeat to Rory McIlroy in an exhibition in China at the start of last week. Woods was mic'd up for the occasion and seemed under the weather to say the least. Nevertheless, priced up as the favourite, the great man looks opposable in his first round three-ball this week with two of the world's in-form golfers in Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, who have both played more competitive golf than Woods of late. At the prices, the Swede is the pick.

Being the defending champion seemed to get Ian Poulter's juices flowing in Shanghai last week, where he finished second. However, at the three-ball prices he looks worth opposing with Lee Westwood who has been known to peak at this time of year himself. Matteo Manassero makes up the three-ball.

Colin Montgomerie looks overpriced in a potentially weak three-ball with Padraig Harrington and Scott Jamieson. Harrington looked out of his depth at the grand slam of golf in October and then failed to register a round in the 60's in China last time out. Montgomerie's fellow Scot, Scott Jamieson has been in fine form in lesser company, but Monty is worth chancing, fresh from a Senior's tour victory at Woburn and this week playing on a course he designed.
