The Greenbrier Classic 2015: A quartet of selections from the opening round 3-balls

Dan fancies David Lingmerth to get the better of his two rivals during round one
Dan fancies David Lingmerth to get the better of his two rivals during round one

Tiger Woods is back in action on the PGA Tour this week, and he figures in Dan Geraghty's day one three-ball analysis. But is our man with or against the 14-time major champion and former world number one?

Back Scott Stallings @ 3.185/40 (13:10)

Back Patrick Rodgers @ 2.68/5 (12:30)

Back Graham DeLaet @ 2.01/1 (13:30)

Back David Lingmerth @ 3.02/1 (13:10)

Scott Stallings has been inconsistent this season and is currently on a run of three missed cuts; however, he's never missed the cut at the Greenbrier and won the tournament in 2011. Stallings' form around the Old White TPC compares very favourably with playing partners Nick Watney and Scott Brown; he's been priced up as the outsider here and is worth backing at a nice price.

This week Patrick Rodgers is joined in the field by the man that replaced him as Stanford golf's main man, Maverick McNealy; with bragging rights up for grabs back Rodgers to make a fast start. The former world number one amateur shot a third round 63 last week, he remains in great form, is making the most of his unlimited sponsor exemptions and is well on the way to claiming his PGA Tour card. In form Tony Finau opposes, but Rodgers has the experience of playing the course last year in his favour. Will Mackenzie makes up the three-ball.

Like many, I was hugely disappointed with Graham DeLaet's closing round last week, not least his par 5 lay up; however, I'm happy to back the Canadian in round one while it's even money about him triumphing over out-of-form duo Sean O'Hair and Tim Wilkinson. Deleat has performed with great credit here in previous years.

Thanks to his fine victory in Jack Nicklaus' Memorial tournament last month, David Lingmerth can now call himself a PGA Tour winner; the Swedish star has put in two of his better tour performances at the Greenbrier, finishing 16th last year and ninth on his debut in 2013. This week, Lingmerth finds himself paired alongside two of the biggest names in golf - Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods, neither of whom have come close to bettering Lingmerth's results here and neither of whom appear to be in any kind of form.
