Back Bubba Watson @ [3.7] (13:26)

Back Luke Donald @ [2.2] (18:39)

Back Scott Brown @ [3.1] (17:11)

In theory we should have some of the most competitive three-balls of the season this week, for the threesomes have been decided by FedEx Cup rank - with those ranked one to three going out together and so on. The aforementioned first three in the rankings - Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Bubba Watson are out early (13:26 UK time) and with Day's preparation having been affected by a niggling back injury there may be some value in the market. Watson has beaten Spieth in the first round here in each of the last two years (Spieth's only visits to date) and the big hitting left hander looks a nice price to do so again.

While many are at the end of a long gruelling golf season, Tim Clark is raring to get going, after a forced absence (through injury) from January to June this year. Clark played some of his best golf since his return when 43rd at last weeks Wyndham Championship, shooting weekend rounds of 67 and 69. In comparison playing partner Erik Compton withdrew from last weeks tournament before his third round citing a sore left ankle. After his strong showing, finishing in 10th place last week, Jonas Blixt looks the main danger to tiny Tim.

Luke Donald made this years play-offs by the skin of his teeth with some clutch putting; now he is in the field, I expect him to carry that momentum into this week and qualify for next week's Deutsche Bank Championship. Donald has a wonderful FedEx Cup record and has shown glimpses of a return to form of late. Ken Duke and Vijay Singh are Donald's playing partners this week both have done well to make the playoffs but there recent form suggests this may be the end of the road.

Scott Brown was hugely impressive on his way to third place at last week's Wyndham Championship; in such form he looks the man to beat in a tight three-ball with Charles Howell III and Rory Sabbatini. Brown is a relative novice, playing only his fourth PGA Tour campaign and is in line for his best FedEx Cup finish to date (currently 71st in the standings).
