Arnold Palmer Invitational Tips: Five three-ball bets for day one at Bay Hill

Jim Furyk knows Bay Hill like the back of his hand

"Gentleman Jim's form figures at Bay Hill for the past three years read 11/9/11. His playing partners Chris Kirk and Scott Piercy have nothing but missed cuts here to their name."

A top field is in Florida for the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Dan Geraghty can't resist getting stuck into the betting with this quintet of three-ball bets for Thursday's action...

Keegan Bradley has shown a dramatic improvement in his last two starts, but he is yet to set the world alight at Bay Hill... unlike his playing partners Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter, who were second and third here last year, respectively. It's tough to split them, but the Englishman is preferred at a slightly bigger price.

I did have a look to take Tiger Woods on in his three-ball, but backing the great man seems the way to go.  Ernie Els, a former winner here, had last week off after feeling some pain and spasms in his right hip and, despite his third place finish in 2011, Justin Rose doesn't appeal as a betting medium against Tiger this week. The putter appears hot for Tiger and a fast start is on the cards for the American.

Bud Cauley's fourth placed finish here last year is the best piece of form at Bay Hill that any of his three-ball can muster (Jason Day and Vaughn Taylor make up the group). The youngster has struggled this season and withdrew last week through illness. However, he's back in full health and is worth chancing this week at a nice price.

Charles Howell III's usual fast start to the PGA Tour season sees him comfortably inside the FedEx Cup top ten. He looks a strong favourite to outscore playing partners Tim 'Lumpy' Herron and George Coetzee. South African Coetzee played well for three rounds last week but Howell's experience at Bay Hill could be vital.

Jim Furyk sent a clear signal he was returning to form last week with a seventh-placed finish at the Tampa Bay Championship. Gentleman Jim's form figures at Bay Hill for the past three years read 11/9/11. His playing partners Chris Kirk and Scott Piercy have nothing but missed cuts here to their name.
