Second time around for Zane Scotland as Paul continues his attempts to find a three figure winner

Having tipped Trevor Immelman in this column twice already this year, I did feel a bit sick on Sunday night when I realised he'd traded as high as [330.0]. But then again, as I had four selections last week I can hardly complain. As much as I've always rated Immelman as a potential future Major winner, there was absolutely nothing in the 2008 formbook to suggest he would conquer Augusta.

It was yet another lesson in sticking with these big-priced fancies beyond just the one week. And with that in mind, I'm going to repeat a selection from a few months ago, Zane Scotland. Zane remains one of the better prospects on the European Tour, who did very well to earn his card from only a few starts last year. Inevitably though, at this early stage in his career inconsistency is still very much the order of the day.

I do think he'll enjoy the Beijing International Course this week though. Inspection of the card suggests that this will be a driving test. Numerous hazards place an emphasis on accuracy from the tee, while some long par-4s and longish par-5s suggest a slight advantage to the longer hitters. Zane scores well on both counts, ranking a respectable 31st in total driving over the past three months.

He registered some very fair stats in the latest co-sanctioned Euro/Asian event in Korea, finishing a very respectable 11th in a stronger field than the one he's up against this week. And again, on his most recent start on a not particularly suitable track in Portugal, Scotland hit three sub-70 rounds out of four. If he can put four together in the same week, then a first European Tour win awaits for this excellent prospect.
