What's this? Talented Frenchman available at [150.0]? Could it be the first three figure winner for Paul Krishnamurty

Even if my outsider tip for last week's French Open turned out to be one I'd rather forget, I was at least right in arguing that Le Golf National was primed to produce another shock winner.

Anyone who did manage to pick out Pablo Larrazabal pre-tournament at [430.0] deserves a betting knighthood.

In comparison, should this week's selection Raphael Jacquelin do the business it won't register as a shock even if his odds are still [150.0]. In fact I was quite surprised to see a player of Jacquelin's quality at these sort of odds. I can only assume they are reflective of the quality of the field in Kent this week and indicative of an over-reaction to a couple of disappointing tournaments.

Just four weeks ago, the Frenchman finished third in the Wales Open, scoring well if not enough to keep up with the runaway front pair. I see no reason why he can't return to that sort of form, especially as I now expect the course to suit him down to the ground, (unlike last week).

The London Club, host to this week's European Open, is making its first tournament appearance so there's a strong element of guesswork as to whom the course will suit. However, we do know it has fairly generous fairways and large, undulating greens. This sounds perfect for Jacquelin, whose best form is on 'second-shot' courses like this that reward his high-quality, attacking iron approach play.
