Carl Pettersson - one of this week's five e/w selections for the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club

It's PGA Tour action from North Carolina this week as the Wyndham Championship takes centre stage. The betting.betfair golf team have had put together five each-way selections for you to consider on the Betfair Sportsbook...

Mike Norman: Back Carl Pettersson @ 51.050/1

"The Swede won here that year with an impressive four round aggregate score of 21 under par, and since then he's finished in a tie for fourth on two more occasions (2011 and 2012)."

*Each-way terms: ¼ odds, 5 places

Dan Geraghty: Back Patrick Rodgers @ 126.0125/1

My favourite youngster of last season, Patrick Reed, won this tournament last year and I'm siding with my favourite youngster of this year, Patrick Rodgers, to triumph this time around. This is Rodgers' final sponsor's invite and he needs to put in a good performance if he's to at least qualify for the Web.com Finals (he needs to be in the top 200 on the money list). Should he win the tournament, Rodgers can give the Web.com tour a miss entirely, and having followed him obsessively on shot tracker over the past couple of months, I'm firmly of the belief that's a real possibility.

Joe Dyer: Back Shawn Stefani @ 81.080/1

Tempted though I am to get with one of those hovering around the FedEx Cup cut line I am swerving endangered golfers in favour of a man who has put together a very solid season on the PGA Tour and whose skills should suit the Sedgefield challenge - Shawn Stefani. A long and accurate driver, Stefani also boasts respectable figures for greens-in-regulation and putting. I'm happy to overlook a missed cut at The Open and a low finish at the US PGA - they were just the second and third major appearances of his career - and instead point to a light schedule that has yielded a runner-up, fifth-place finish and just four missed cuts. Steve Rawlings is keen on those who performed well at last month's John Deere Classic so a tied 13th there is another bonus.

Steven Rawlings: Back Jonathan Byrd @ 101.0100/1

I couldn't help but notice a very recent form correlation between this week's venue, Sedgefield Country Club, and Deere Run, home of the John Deere Classic and given Jonathan Byrd won there in 2007, that's the first of four reasons I give the Georgia resident a chance this week. Byrd, who was born in South Carolina, has shown form in North Carolina in the past, having played Quail Hollow well on a number of occasions. He's in decent form if his third place finish at the Barracuda Championship last time out is any sort of gauge and given he's currently ranked 132nd on the FedEx Cup standings, he needs a good week to get into the top-125 and qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoff Series that starts next week.

Paul Krishnamurty: Back Joe Durant @ 91.090/1

It's been eight long years since Joe Durant won the last of his four titles, but he has found a new lease of life since turning 50 in April and starting out on the Champions Tour. Few, if any, players have hit more fairways and greens over the past 20 years and Durant seems to have found that relentless routine again, enabling top-20 finishes on his last three PGA Tour starts. That trademark accuracy is always a big asset around Sedgefield, where Durant finished 12th on his last two visits, shooting seven sub-70 rounds out of eight.

Mike Norman: Back Carl Pettersson @ 51.050/1

Carl Pettersson is one of the course record co-holders at Sedgefield Country Club after shooting 61 in 2008, and it's evident that he loves playing at the venue. The Swede won here that year with an impressive four round aggregate score of 21 under par, and since then he's finished in a tie for fourth on two more occasions (2011 and 2012). So hopes are high for Pettersson going into this event, especially if he can translate his form from six weeks ago to this week. The 40-year-old finished third at the St Jude Classic in June before recording a seventh-place finish at the Travelers a fortnight later. A reproduction of that form on a course he enjoys will see him go very close.
