Perth International Each-Way Tips: Class act Ogilvy can go well on home soil

Raphael Jacquelin was one birdie away from giving Joe Dyer and Mike Norman a second successive payout last week, but undeterred by the Frenchman's final round wobbles the guys are back with their each-way selections for this week's Perth International...

Back Geoff Ogilvy @ 21.020/1

"And the Aussie rarely disappoints in his homeland, knowing, and being able to adjust to, the windy conditions and fast greens better than most."

Fancied Runner - Back Geoff Ogilvy @ 21.020/1

There were more than a few observers who thought Ogilvy's time at the top of the game was gone following successive years of declining returns. But the 2006 US Open winner put together a stunning stretch of golf towards the end of the 2014 season and looks like the one to be with at the top of the Perth International betting.

Ogilvy arrives in Perth full of confidence having won the Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour in August beofre finishing second in a high-class Deutsche Bank Championship field in September. And the Aussie rarely disappoints in his homeland, knowing, and being able to adjust to, the windy conditions and fast greens better than most.

In-form Paul Krishnamrty shares our opinion regarding the 37-year-old and advocates backing him each-way and for a top-10 finish on the exchange. We wish Paul well, bet fingers crossed for at least a top-five finish and hopefully another win in Australia for the home nation's big hope this week.

Mid-Ranker - Back Oliver Fisher @ 67.066/1

In a field where current form or course form is thin on the ground we believe that Oliver Fisher can go well at a juicy price.

In the context of this week's field - which isn't overly strong at all - the Englishman is by no means out of his depth. On a tree-lined course - albeit with wide fairways - this average-length hitter should have no worries finding plenty of fairways, and that is usually a good starting point to allow the 26-year-old to perform well.

Fisher put in a more than respectable effort on another course where accuracy from the tee is beneficial - the Open de France - when recording a top-10 finish, and that means he has four top-12 finishes to his name (including three top-10s) on the European Tour in his last 10 starts.

That level of form is on a par with anyone available to back at the same price, so the fact that he finished 18th at Lake Karrinyup last year has to be encouraging for his chances this week.

Mid-Ranker - Back Wade Ormsby @ 51.050/1

This 34-year-old son of Adelaide is enjoying by far his best year on the European Tour - with a pair of top 10s and just five missed cuts from 25 events - might this be the week he lands a maiden win amongst the big boys?

Certainly, as an Australian, he has an advantage over the foreign contingent at this 'home' event (despite there being more than 2,700 kilometres between Perth and Adelaide). Promisingly, Ormsby has an improving record at this event, finishing 39th in 2012 and 28th in 2013 and given his better results this year he looks primed to go better again.

Relentlessly accurate, and a fine putter, there's no real length at Lake Karrinyup to trouble this relatively short hitter. The stats say Ormsby has the game to succeed at the Perth International and after a very respectable year there's no reason to think he won't.
