At a rain affected Spanish Open, South Africa's Schwartzel came out on top in Madrid after completing two rounds on the final day.

The 22-year-old fired a third round 68 and then went one better in the final round to leave him on -18, three shots ahead of India's Jyoti Randhawa.

Schwartzel is unfancied to challenge for the Order of Merit crown this season, with 250 on offer for him to top the European money list. Punters can also bet on the South African finish in the top four on the Tour chart.

Meanwhile, US veteran Verplank claimed the Byron Nelson Championship in Texas with a one-shot victory over Luke Donald.

Englishman Donald, who led after the second and third rounds, suffered a three-putt nightmare on the ninth to relinquish his advantage. The Ryder Cup star then missed a birdie on the last to force a play-off.

Verplank hadn't won on Tour since 2001 and as a Texan was delighted with a home success, admitting: "To be from Dallas and win the Byron Nelson is unbelievable."

The 42-year-old is available at 150 in the 'PGA Money List 2007 - winner without Woods' market -Vijay Singh is the current favourite (3.05).
