73840984.jpgSouth African Retief Goosen has confirmed he will be taking part in the 2007 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in May.

The world number eight, who was in with a shout of landing his third Major Championship when he tied for second at the recent Masters, will hope to put up a good showing in the chase for the €725,000 winner's cheque.

Goosen has taken part in the BMW PGA Championship on 14 previous occasions with his best finish to date coming in 1999 when he tied for fourth place.

However, the 38-year-old, who is likely to be among the principles in the betting when the market opens, makes no secret of the fact that he feels his game is coming together and it would be a dream come true to lift the trophy.

"This is a tournament that everyone on The European Tour would dearly love to win and I'm certainly no exception," he said. "I have played in the event every year since 1993 and hopefully this time I can make a few more putts and lift the trophy. It was nice to get another win under my belt in Qatar earlier in the season and to come back from Augusta after a good weekend's work. Hopefully that will give me the confidence to contend for the BMW PGA title at Wentworth."

Before his focus turns to Wentworth, though, he will be hoping for further success as the European Tour continues its run in Asia with this week's BMW Asian Open at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.

The tournament gets underway on Thursday and Goosen finds himself going into the competition trading as the favourite on Betfair's outright winner market at 7.2 with Ernie Els marginally longer at 7.6.

Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez Castono will be hoping to experience a repeat of last year's success this week with Betfair punters currently trading him at around 65 to defend his title.
