World number one Tiger Woods could be considering a new caddie appointment as he bids to have the best bag-man by his side while continuing to push for the major honours.

New Zealander Steve Williams has been on the bag for Woods for the last eight years but it is thought by those close to him he could be ready to step down from the position.

However, despite the rumours that Billy Foster is under consideration to step in, Darren Clarke's caddie denies there has been any contact with the Woods' camp.

"A few rumours are flying around, but I've not been approached," said Foster. "I wish I could say it was true because it's the best job in the world - better even than Tiger's."

Foster impressed Woods when partnering him in the 2005 Presidents Cup with the American ace stating at the time: "He's good at what he does. I've seen him work with Clarkey over the years and he's had some success.

"There were a couple of guys I was considering, but I like his personality. He's very competitive, very feisty and very similar to Stevie."

So it would appear that in the eyes of Woods, Foster is the prefect replacement for Williams, as the World number one looks to ensure he is getting the best advice while competing at the highest level.

In Betfair's Major Wins for this season, the 'None' option is currently favourite at 1.71 with 'One Major Only' at 2.8 and 'Two Majors Only' at 13.

Whether or not a change in caddie so close to the start of the Open Championship has any bearing on the price Woods and Clarke trade at remains to be seen, but as expected Woods is currently favourite in the market at 4.2 while Clarke is available at 200.
