Sheffield Utd to beat Southend Utd @ 7/10
This week brought a familiar feeling to Betfair punters with Sheffield Utd shaming themselves as the #LegThatLetYouDown for the second time in three weeks. After failing to beat bottom club Crewe a couple of weeks ago, 42% of you felt that they'd gotten the let down out of their system and gleefully took the 7/10 price.
Unfortunately Nigel Adkins would have been less than pleased to see his side 2-0 down at home inside half an hour as Ryan Leonard hit one of the strikes of the weekend from all of 30 yards and Jack Payne also slotted home two minutes later.
The mood did brighten considerably for backers as the Blades went into the break level thanks to Jose Baxter and Neil Collins on his 200th game for the club. The natural hope and indeed expectation was that they could kick on, secure the victory and avoid a second #LegThatLetYouDown trial however it finished 2-2 and left the majority of you aggrieved, again!
Adrian Lewis to beat Michael Smith @ 2/5
As the Grand Slam of Darts clicked into full gear on Saturday with a stellar quarter-final line-up, 27% of you highlighted Adrian Lewis as a man who could deliver enough legs to earn you one for your acca.
Unfortunately, in a race to 16 legs 'Jackpot' never looked fully comfortable with his action and his irritated demeanour throughout the contest left his backers with an irritation of their own.
Struggling to hit his doubles with any regularity, Michael Smith showed his capacity to mix it with the best and picked off the two-time World Champion before running into the darting juggernaut that is Michael Van Gerwen in what would ultimately be his successful crusade the add the final PDC major to his list of honours.
Lewis took to Twitter following his loss to explain being 'gutted' at missing a hat full of doubles. 26% were just as gutted, left high and dry for their acca.
Chesterfield to beat Oldham Athletic @ 5/6
Perhaps a selection that flew under the radar was Chesterfield to take care of lowly Oldham at home which 21% of you took at reasonable price of 5/6. Having won 3 of their last 4 league games and going up against a side with just 3 wins all season, Chesterfield received plenty of attention from punters and this looked as if it was going to be rewarded after a Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's opener before Half Time.
Things turned sour for these punters after the break though with Dominic Poleon grabbing an equaliser before Danny Philiskirk netted a late winner and busted accas up and down the country.
Faugheen to win Morgiana Hurdle @ 1/6
Unsurprisingly, this #LegThatLetYouDown received a huge amount of coverage and it's not difficult to see why given the 1/6 price. 'The Machine' was supposed to outclass stablemate Nichols Canyon at Punchestown and begin his season in style.
In fact, the previously unbeaten Faugheen had been as short as 7/4 to go the entire 2015/16 season without a defeat so for 10% of backers, their gasps were practically audible across social media as Ruby Walsh struggled to keep Mullins superstar in touch in the latter stages as Nichols Canyon took the Morgiana @ 5/1.
The ramifications of Faugheen's defeat were two fold, lengthening him to 6/4 to win the Champion Hurdle, which has become a punt creating lots of intrigue and a complete disaster for those of you that had included him in their accas.
