Brazil and Barcelona legend Rivaldo provides Betting.Betfair with another exclusive, as he explains why he's backing his old club to get over their midweek defeat and win away to Betis on Sunday.
"If Barcelona manage to play at they're usual high standard at Betis, I believe they will end up winning an interesting match. I'll back 1-3 in the correct score market."
Barcelona recently announced the arrival of Yerri Mina from Palmeiras and, from the information I managed to collect from Brazil about the Colombian defender, he sounds like a very interesting player.
Mina played a big role at Palmeiras and has done so for his national team too. He has good technical ability, which will be useful in a team as skillful as Barcelona, full of excellent players in all positions. I hope he will be a big success at Camp Nou.
Unlucky Ousmane Dembele
The talented French player continued his bad luck after getting another injury that will sideline him for three to four weeks. I believe this is more of a problem for the player than for Ernesto Valverde's team, which has plenty resources to cope without Dembele.
In his debut season at Barcelona, Dembele has been under pressure to justify the enormous sum of money invested in him. At the moment, he is certainly passing through a bad moment and his bad luck is preventing him from making an impact. Hopefully, he will return from injury and find form soon, as he is obviously a talented player with lots to offer the team.
Barca will return to winning ways this weekend
Barcelona finally lost last Wednesday against Espanyol in a Copa del Rey match. But we should notice that it was a first leg cup game, away from home, and a 1-0 defeat still leaves Barca with a big chance of qualifying for the next round. At Camp Nou next week, I can't imagine Barça scoring less than two goals.
With that in mind, I'm not expecting Valverde to make too many changes to his squad for this Sunday's match against Real Betis, as he Barca try to extend their lead at the top of La Liga.
Betis have been playing well lately and should create some problems for Barca. But I'm expecting a quick reaction from 'Los Culés' after their midweek loss. They should play with a strong line-up to avoid taking risks against a dangerous opponent.
If Barcelona manage to play at they're usual high standard, I believe they will end up winning an interesting match. I'll back 1-3 in the correct score market. After that, I'm confident Barça will have enough time and a big enough squad to prepare for their important midweek second leg against Espanyol and win it has well, securing their place in the the semi-finals.
