Back Dark Side Dream in the 15:10 at Wolverhampton at 2.77/4
Thanks to our esteemed colleagues in the market operations racing team at Betfair for this one - where the markets lead, we're happy to follow and Dark Side Dream has been heavily backed in from 4.57/2 to 2.77/4. Chris Dwyer's gelding may not have managed a win in seven starts but went close in three successive nurseries at Wolverhampton and looks capable of getting off the mark here, dropped back into maiden company. He was given a break over the Christmas period then shook off the rust with a decent performance at Chelmsford last month. And if that doesn't convince you, the great name should...
Back Graeme McDowell for a Top Five finish in the WGC Cadillac Championship at around 5.04/1
Gale force winds and torrential rain made conditions on the first few days at the Honda Classic so extreme that we're prepared to forgive any player a missed cut. In fact, it could be a real blessing as the market will generally make those players who didn't feature in the final two rounds slightly longer odds, which leads us to this week's selection - Graeme McDowell - who missed the business end of the PGA National showdown after finishing one shot outside the cut line.
The Northern Irishman will therefore be fresh for Doral, a course where he has finished in the top 10 four times. This ultra-accurate Florida resident will always catch our eye when playing in his home state and that good course form really makes him stand out at a solid price in a very competitive field.
Back Both Teams to Score in Newcastle v Manchester United at 1.9620/21
Manchester United have spent large parts of the season looking woeful but have only lost twice in the league since November 2nd and are still fourth in the table, just five points behind Man City in second place.
They're favourites to beat Newcastle on Wednesday night at St James's Park, but Louis van Gaal's men can't stop conceding on the road - they've shipped way over a goal a game on average so far this term. What's more, the Magpies have no problem scoring on their own patch - 19 in 13 so far, and that makes a price of almost Evens on Both Teams to Score in this one a solid bet.
Back Wycombe Wanderers to beat Tranmere Rovers at 2.6613/8
It's a long trip for the Chairboys, but they rank as a solid bet to beat Tranmere at Prenton Park on Tuesday night. Wycombe are riding high in League Two and have only lost two of their last ten, but the really interesting thing about them is that they're a much better side away from home - of the 60 points they've picked up this season, 33 have come on the road.
Tranmere on the other hand are a poor side, have lost three of their last four including two defeats to teams below them in the table, and have only bagged five wins at home all season. Wycombe should do the business here, and the price is more than fair, too.
Back Dave Chisnall to beat Gary Anderson at 3.55/2 or better
Live on Sky Sports
Chizzy did the business for this column last week, beating Kim Huybrechts 7-4 and going joint top of the Premier League table, so we were surprised to see how much of an outsider he is for this Thursday's clash with Gary Anderson. The Scot is of course World Champion and in good nick himself - the 7-4 comeback win over James Wade in Cardiff sent him third in the table - but Chisnall was in sensational form last week, describing it as 'the best he has ever played in the Premier League' and anything around the 3.55/2 mark represents excellent value.
