Norwich v Leicester: Get on the goals in battle of the entertainers

Alex Neil's Norwich should serve up some entertaining fare
Alex Neil's Norwich should serve up some entertaining fare

The goals trends are strong in this clash and Joe Dyer can't resist basing his bets on both clubs serving up a healthy dose of entertainment on Saturday afternoon

"Neither team has registered a clean sheet through the first seven Premier League games, Leicester are the division's joint top scorers while Norwich's 11 goals scored is the equal of Chelsea and Everton and is a total bettered only by Saturday's opponents, West Ham and the Manchester clubs."

Norwich v Leicester
Saturday, 15:00

Norwich

The Canaries started the season among the relegation frontrunners but a very promising start has seen their price quadruple from near even money to 5.24/1. There's been a bit of everything so far - wins at home and away, impressive draws at Liverpool and West Ham and a few defeats of course - but nine points from seven places them an encouraging 12th in the table.

Goals have been a feature of Norwich's season so far - Alex Neil's side have only failed to score in one match while John Ruddy has had to pick the ball out of his net at least once in all seven Premier League games played.

Neil has no fresh injury concerns and a near fully-fit squad to pick from.

Leicester

The Foxes lost their unbeaten record last weekend in a crazy seven-goal shootout with Arsenal. Though that was their first defeat in the top-flight, the 5-2 defeat sums up Leicester's season so far - goals at both ends with the entertainment dial turned up to 11. Seven matches have seen 29 goals scored, 15 for Claudio Ranieri's men and 14 for the opposition, during a run that has taken Leicester to eighth in the table.

Deadline day loan signing Nathan Dyer, a goalscorer on debut, could make his return from injury at Carrow Road.

Match Odds

Norwich are the favourites at 2.3611/8 with the visitors trading at 3.3512/5. The draw is a 3.55 shot. I have to confess I can't see a bet here. Norwich's home record shows one win, one draw and one defeat; Leicester have drawn a pair and won one on the road. The Foxes might give you a run for your money but a bit more juice in the price would be nice.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals

Where there is no obvious bet in the Match Odds that isn't the case here. The trends are so strong for goals that we must peg our bets on there being a few at Carrow Road. The market is alive to the likelihood, moving Overs in from 2.0421/20 to 1.865/6 but it could be argued that it's still an attractive price. Remember the following: neither team has registered a clean sheet through the first seven Premier League games, Leicester are the division's joint top scorers while Norwich's 11 goals scored is the equal of Chelsea and Everton and is a total bettered only by Saturday's opponents, West Ham and the Manchester clubs.

I'm sure that Neil and Ranieri will be looking to tighten up their defences, but results so far suggest it won't happen this weekend.

Other options for punters convinced we'll see plenty of goals include Over 3.5, which can be backed at 3.185/40, and Both Teams to Score, which trades at 1.738/11.

First Half Goals

If this is the goalfest we expect it might pay to back Over 1.5 Goals in the first half at around 3.02/1. It would have paid out in four of Leicester's seven Premier League games and three of Norwich's. You can currently back Overs at 2.747/4 but 2.915/8 should be attainable nearer kick-off.
