Maurizio Sarri is [1.07] to be the next Chelsea manager following newspaper reports that the Italian will succeed his countrymen Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge this week.
The process had reportedly been delayed due to working out a compensation package with Conte and agreeing a release fee with Napoli, Sarri's current club. Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with Sarri.
But with Chelsea players, who are not at the World Cup, due to report for training next Monday, the club are trying to speed up the process of finding a new manager for the 2018/19 season. Chelsea kick-off their 2018/19 Premier League campaign against Huddersfield on 11 August.
Fans will be sad to see Conte go
Chelsea players are in the dark about who will be at the helm next season. Conte ended last season by winning the FA Cup, in a tense final against Manchester United. In his first season, he won the Premier League title.
However, Chelsea's failure to achieve a top four finish, as well as rumours about Conte's unhappiness about transfers, meant his departure has long been anticipated.
His achievement mean that, even he leaves with one year let on his contract, he should be remembered fondly by Chelsea fans, and he will not be short of job offers elsewhere.
Who is Sarri?
Sarri, 59, has impressed as manager of Napoli since he took charge in 2015. He has made them difficult to beat, exciting to watch and arguably the team most likely to depose Juventus, who have won Serie A for four consecutive seasons. Sarri's Napoli finished as runners-up in 2016 and 2018.

Chelsea expected to sign Golovin
Sarri will need to add players to his squad if Chelsea are the teams ahead of them in the betting - Manchester City [1.65], Manchester United [8.0], Liverpool [6.8] - for the Premier league title.
Several reports say that the Russian forward Aleksandr Golovin, as well as Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The latter is 7/4 to make the move to Stamford Bridge, with Thibaut Courtois 4/5 to leave for Real Madrid.
