Liverpool are into the Champions League final after pulling off a seemingly impossible result - beating Barcelona by four goals at Anfield to overturn a calamitous first leg result

"From way out at 36.035/1 to win the competition, Klopp's men are now 1.4840/85 to lift the trophy in the Madrid final. Barcelona had been as short as 1.454/9 to be crowned champions."

Did that really happen?

Liverpool pulled off one of the great European escapes when overturning a 3-0 first leg deficit with a 4-0 defeat of Barcelona at Anfield. The correct score was backed at a massive 120.0119/1 on the Betfair Exchange as an understrength home side - without Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino - pulled off what had looked impossible.

Needing to just match the Nou Camp result to take it to extra time, Jurgen Klopp's side went one better, defeating their illustrious Spanish opponents by four clear goals. The heroes were Divock Origi, the Belgian striker scoring a double including the opening and closing goals, and second-half substitute Georginio Wijnaldum who also scored twice.

The size of the task was illustrated by 'To Qualify' odds on the Betfair Exchange that made Liverpool 25.024/1 to progress from the tie. Barcelona had been backed at the reverse price of those odds, or 1.041/25 in other words!
