International Opta Stats: Scotland win is great value

Gordon Strachan has given Scotland their belief back

Tuesday night sees two of the home nations face tricky away days. Lewis Jones uses the Opta stats to recommend a few wagers...

"Scotland have only lost one of their seven previous friendlies against Norway (W3 D3), losing 4-3 away in June 1963."
Recommended Bet: Back Scotland to win @ 3/14.0

Norway v Scotland (Tuesday, 18:00, BBC 2)

Scotland have only lost one of their seven previous friendlies against Norway (W3 D3), losing 4-3 away in June 1963
Excitement is growing on Scottish shores that Gordon Strachan may just be the man to bring the good times back to the national team. A trip to Scandinavia to face a Norway team that finished a very poor fourth in a very weak Group E qualifying section will hold no fears for the Tartan Army, who won away from home against Croatia and Macedonia during their failed World Cup campaign.
Recommended Bet: Back Scotland to win @ 3/14.0

Following the 0-0 draw with USA on Friday, Scotland are now unbeaten in three games (W2 D1)
Despite being on a bit of roll, the goals haven't exactly been flying in from all angles in Scotland's games in the last 18 months. In qualifying, Strachan's men only scored eight in 10 fixtures, with the absence of a top-class forward restricting their progress. It's a similar story for Norway, who only managed to bulge the net 10 times in qualifying, with seven of their 10 games producing less than 2.5 goals. That looks banker material again.
Best Bet: Back Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/111.76

Poland v Republic of Ireland (Tuesday, 19:45, Premier Sports)

After a run of six games without defeat between March and September, Poland have lost their last three internationals without scoring
When you analyse the recent goalscoring exploits of these teams, all the smart money should be pouring on this clash to be a low scoring snooze-fest. The Boys in Green have scored just one goal in their last five games on the road while Poland, who like Ireland sacked manager Waldemar Fornalik following a very disappointing qualification campaign, haven't scored in 285 minutes of football.
Best Bet: Back the 0-0 draw @ 9/19.8

Robert Lewandowski has only scored three goals in his last 16 international appearances, with two of those coming against minnows San Marino
Domestically, everything that the Borussia Dortmund striker touches turns to goal but when donning the Poland silks his powers are weakened. It is therefore very surprising to find the misfiring Pole so short to fire against an Irish defence that looked a revitalised unit in their 3-0 win over Latvia.
Recommended Bet: Lay Robert Lewandowski to score at any time @ 6/42.5
