Champions League Opta Stats: PSG to beat Valencia

David Beckham will be in the stadium, if not the starting line-up

Using Opta's acumen Christian Crowther picks out some Champions League bets for Wednesday night's second-leg action...

"Paris St-Germain have won 15 of their last 20 home games in the Champions League (75%). Only Monaco (76%) have a better ratio among teams with at least 10 home games in the competition."
Recommended Bet: Back Paris St-Germain to beat Valencia @ 1.9310/11

Paris St-Germain v Valencia, Wednesday 19:45, Sky Sports 4

Paris St-Germain have won 15 of their last 20 home games in the Champions League (75%). Only Monaco (76%) have a better ratio among teams with at least 10 home games in the competition
Paris St-Germain enter the second leg as strong favourites to progress after procuring two away goals at the Mestalla to stun Valencia with the 2-1 win. When in residence at the Parc des Prince, the capital club have been formidable this season, especially of late, winning nine of their last ten games and drawing the other across all competitions.
Recommended Bet: Back Paris St-Germain to beat Valencia @ 1.9310/11

No French club has ever kept a clean sheet against Valencia in European competition (19 games)
While Carlo Ancelotti's expensively assembled side share the joint-best defensive record in the competition this year, both Porto and Dynamo Kiev managed to register on trips to Paris in the group stages, so they are by no means infallible. Valencia are no slouches went it comes to scoring goals either, having notched in eight consecutive games before arriving in France.
Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 1.814/5

Juventus v Celtic, Wednesday 19:45, Sky Sports 2

Celtic have the joint-worst defensive record among the 16 teams left in the Champions League this season (11 goals conceded, alongside Arsenal)
Juventus managed to notch either side of the break in the first leg and this is a feat that the Italian champions managed in three of their group stage ties as well. They twice notched in either half against the holders Chelsea earlier in the competition and, given Celtic's vulnerability to the counter, further goals seem inevitable at the Juventus Stadium as the visitors go looking to make up lost ground.
Recommended Bet: Back Juventus to score in both halves @ 2.166/5

Juventus have lost only one of their last 20 Champions League games at home (1-4 v Bayern Munich, December 2009), winning 13 and drawing six. They have kept clean sheets in 13 of those games
This sort of stat makes hideous reading for Bhoys fans. Great Italian teams are famed for their defensive prowess and this particular Juventus side are very much crafted in that safety-first mould. It's no surprise that the leaders of Serie A keep the tightest ship in their domestic competition where they've let in just 18 goals in 27 matches. They now have their rock Giorgio Chiellini back at their disposal too.
Recommended Bet: Back Juventus to keep a clean sheet @ 1.9420/21
