The big names aren't crammed into the transfer talk column today but one man who looks likely to leave these shores is Spurs' front man Roberto Soldado.

The Spurs striker arrived at White Hart Lane for £26million two years ago but has failed to live up to the price tag and looks set to leave the club this summer.

Karim Benzema looks set to stay at Real Madrid after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger dismissed reports of a £40million move.

The France international has long been linked with a switch to the Premier League and the Gunners were said to be in pole position to land the powerful striker.

The FA Cup and Community Shield holders were reportedly willing to part with a huge chunk of their transfer kitty but the London Evening Standard have revealed recent comments made by Wenger, who has denied making any approach.

He said: "No, honestly, no. I don't know who brings that up."

Liverpool, according to the Daily Telegraph, are lining up an eighth summer signing and are weighing up a £14.9million bid for Real Madrid's Denis Cheryshev.

The Russia international spent last season on loan at Villarreall and was a regular fixture in the first-team, making 26 appearances and bagging four goals in the process.

A future at Real Madrid appears unlikely due to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez all being ahead in the pecking order and Liverpool are hoping to steal in with a move.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has added several new names to his squad this summer, including that of James Milner and Danny Ings, and the addition of Cheryshev could be the final piece of the jigsaw needed to challenge for a top-four spot.

Moving on and Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren is unwilling to sell captain Fabricio Coloccini this summer, according to the Shields Gazette.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew, who managed the Argentine when in charge of the Magpies, was hoping to add the experienced defender to his squad before the end of the window but any hopes of a deal have been ended.

Coloccini has not played much in pre-season due to injury but McClaren is looking to hold onto his skipper as the former England manager targets a good debut campaign at St James' Park.

Finally, according to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to accept a loss on Roberto Soldado after opening talks with Spanish side Villarreal.

Villarreal are light in the attacking department and the club are ready to offer £11million in order to land the Spain international.
