Manchester United are understood to be closing in on Barcelona winger Pedro as Angel Di Maria moves closer to an exit.
The Mirror has reported that Ed Woodward met with Pedro's agent ahead of United's friendly with Barcelona in San Jose.
Woodward has since returned to England and is set to meet the £22million release clause to secure the World Cup winner and take the summer spending over £100million.
The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Camp Nou and is likely to get more opportunities with the Red Devils.
United boss Louis van Gaal believes that Pedro can replace Di Maria, who is on the verge of completing a £46million move to French champions PSG.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are thought to be ready to launch an initial bid to bring Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to the Etihad.
City have made no secret of their interest in De Bruyne and will now make an official approach after Txiki Begiristain met with his representatives.
The Citizens will offer £40million to test the waters but the Telegraph understands that Wolfsburg value the 24-year-old at £57million.
The Telegraph claims the Premier League side would be ready to hand out a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, worth £180,000-a-week.
Elsewhere, West Brom are set to have their resolve tested as Tottenham look to try and come up with a deal to sign Saido Berahino.
The Mirror has reported that the north London club will offer a fee of £10million for the promising striker within the next 48 hours.
However, it is claimed the Baggies believe the 21-year-old is worth twice that sum and will look to play hardball.
Spurs are trying to shake up their attacking options, with Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor both set to depart.
Mauricio Pochettino is hoping Berahino can strike up a partnership with fellow England prospect Harry Kane after both enjoyed breakthrough seasons.
Finally, Spurs appear to be set to lose defender Vlad Chiriches after positive talks between his representatives and Napoli, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.
The Romanian had been linked with Fiorentina although he did not seem keen on playing for the Viola and will instead head to Naples.
Chiriches has made just 27 Premier League appearances during a two-year spell at White Hart Lane and the Italian press believe the deal should be finalised by Wednesday.
