All the latest Premier League transfer news and odds, including Alexis Sanchez, Javier Hernandez and Jonny Evans. Max Liu reports.
"City have long coveted Sanchez and they're 1/3 favourites to sign him in this window. But the odds on the player joining United have narrowed to 9/4, following several reports that Jose Mourinho wants to bring him to Old Trafford."
Who says January transfer windows are dull? Following the news last week that Philippe Coutinho had sealed his move from Liverpool to Barcelona, this week has been dominated by speculation that Alexis Sanchez is on his way to Manchester.
The only surprise is that it could be the red side, rather than the blue side, of Manchester that welcomes the Chilean. Manchester City have long coveted Sanchez, who played for Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, and they're 1/3 favourites to sign him in this window. But now the odds on the player joining United have narrowed to 9/4, following several reports that Jose Mourinho wants to bring him to Old Trafford.
Sanchez would be an asset to United who want to bring in a forward to take the burden off Romelu Lukaku. The club are said to also be considering moves for Leicester's Jamie Vardy and West Ham's Javier Hernandez who left Old Trafford in 2014. David Moyes doesn't see Hernandez as part of his plans at the London Stadium and the Mexican striker will have plenty of suitors, including Southampton 3/1, Newcastle 4/1 and Swansea 5/1.
Another Old Trafford old boy could also be on the move this month. West Brom defender Jonny Evans is wanted by top clubs, with Arsenal 11/8 and Manchester City 2/1 vying for his signature. Both Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger believe the Northern Irishman could be the man to shore up their defences.
Elsewhere, Daniel Sturridge is increasingly concerned that he's becoming a forgotten man at Anfield. The striker believes lack of opportunities for Liverpool could mean he doesn't make it into Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad this summer. Sturridge needs game time and Southampton 3/1 could be the place for him to rebuild his career.
Ex-Southampton winger Theo Walcott is another man who needs first team football if he's to work his way back into the England squad. The Arsenal winger is 8/11 to join Everton and manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the club's are in talks about a deal.
