West Ham travel to the Emirates to take on a slightly fragile Arsenal side. Can they get something from the game? Luke Moore previews the action...
Arsenal 1.4840/85 v West Ham 8.415/2; The Draw 4.84/1
Wednesday , 19:45
After a decent start to their first Premier League campaign following a year absence, West Ham are now in a situation where they can't afford to be complacent. A run of six defeats in their last ten games finds them just eight points above the bottom three, and their 2-1 win against Norwich on New Year's Day is one of only two since early November.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are hardly in magnificent form. Coming into this game off the back of two defeats, embattled manager Arsene Wenger will be targeting nothing less than a win at home to get their target of a top four finish back on track, for which they can be backed at 1.4840/85.
On the face of it, Arsenal look like overwhelming favourites to win this at home. They've not lost in their last ten outings against the Hammers, and according to Opta, Big Sam has never taken a team to Arsenal and won. Wenger's men will be itching to get a win under their belt after a disappointing two weeks. Although the odds look a little short at 1.4840/85, Arsenal really are overwhelming favourites to win the game so it could be a nice opportunity to buy a bit of money.
If you don't think 1.4840/85 constitutes value though, you could always look further afield:
West Ham have only scored five goals away from home this season, and that gives them the dubious honour of being the most goal-shy side on the road in the entire division. If you have more faith in the Arsenal back line than most Arsenal fans, back them to keep a clean sheet at 2.285/4. They'll have the lions' share of possession and should limit West Ham's chances.
There is another school of thought here though, one that suggests that the many games Arsenal have been involved in that have resulted in a goal-fest (Spurs at home, Fulham at home, Newcastle at home, Reading away) indicate goals galore. If you think Arsenal will be in the mood, the Over 3.5 Goals market is generous at 2.8815/8.
