Dave Farrar predicts the Nerazzurri will celebrate an eighth consecutive Serie A victory when they visit Atalanta, overs at San Siro and a potential Sampdoria upset for Roma...

“I can see Atalanta staying in the game for a period. Quality will out, though, and this is a serious Inter team. They’ve won seven in a row in Serie A, and I expect them to make it eight on a Sunday morning in Bergamo.”

Inter are in terrific form and staking a claim to become Juve's closest challengers for the Serie A title. If they ARE to do that, they'll have to make a habit of winning games like this one, an awkward looking trip down the road to Bergamo.

Inter have won five of their last eight Serie A games against Atalanta, and while they don't have a great record here, this looks to be the case of one of the form teams in the League taking on a side who haven't been as impressive in this campaign as in recent seasons.

Atalanta, though, have won their last three games, and that could point to a surprise on Sunday morning, but those victories have come against inferior opposition in the shape of Chievo, Parma and Bologna, and this will be a different task entirely.

Gian Piero Gasperini will, as always, be looking to make a point against a club with whom he had a difficult and extremely brief spell in 2011, and I can see Atalanta staying in the game for a period. Quality will out, though, and this is a serious Inter team. They've won seven in a row in Serie A, and I expect them to make it eight on a Sunday morning in Bergamo.

Goals galore in the big game

Milan v Juventus

There are rumours circulating in Milan that Gennaro Gattuso's job is on the line, with Arsene Wenger one of the names that is being suggested as a possible replacement.

Gattuso's ex-Milan teammates have been vocal in their support for him, and I have to say that I agree with them. Milan are, in my opinion, not a terribly long way from being a very good side.

It would be harsh in the extreme to see Gattuso dismissed after a defeat by the best team in Italy, and that's certainly the most likely outcome on Sunday night. Juventus aren't as good as many give them credit for, but they're still an excellent side and will be keen to make a statement after their surprise Champions League defeat by Manchester United.

Juve are trading at [1.78] to win this, and that price makes a lot of sense given their record against Milan: they've won ten of their last eleven Serie A games against them, and that form seems likely to be franked, even though Milan are on a three-match winning run in the League.

I'm more interested in the goals markets, and for all that Milan kept their first clean sheet since April against Udinese last time, they still look vulnerable, as do Juve, not nearly as adept at closing games down as they used to be. I can see this having a similar pattern to Juve's 3-1 win against Napoli earlier in the season, and that makes Over 3.5 Goals a very backable price.

Samp can upset Roma

Roma v Sampdoria

Sampdoria are continually undervalued in betting markets and I can't quite understand it. They may not be one of Serie A's heavy hitters, but there's no way on earth that they should be trading at around [8.0] to beat a Roma side who have issues of their own at the moment.

Samp lost 4-1 at home against Torino last week, but Toro scored early, and the game got away from Samp, but I don't think that it signals any general malaise. They've shown pretty good form in Serie A so far this season, and are worth supporting with a goal start on the Asian Handicap.

They've been impressive away from home so far in this campaign, losing only twice and on both of those occasions by a single goal, and this is a Roma team that lost against SPAL the last time they played a Serie A game at the Olimpico.

Roma have lost two of their last four home games against Samp, and haven't beaten them since September 2016. They remain under pressure and come into this after a long trip back from Moscow. I'm aware that Samp have conceded seven goals in their last two games, but those results seem to be outliers and so we can give them a chance with confidence here.
