Monaco ran out impressive winners over Borussia Dortmund in midweek and are available at good odds against Lyon this weekend, writes James Eastham...

"Bordeaux have won their last six fixtures against sides outside the top four and run up big winning margins in their last three home games: 3-0 v Metz, 5-1 v Montpellier and 3-0 v Guingamp."

Best Bet: Bordeaux -1.0&-1.5 Asian Handicap v Bastia @ [1.91]

Bordeaux v Bastia (5th v 20th)
Sat, 19:00 BST

Bastia's game at home to Lyon was called off because of crowd trouble last week and the Bastia players are unlikely to be in the right frame of mind to pick up points at Bordeaux this weekend.

Things were already bad for Bastia, rooted to the foot of the table, before last weekend's events saw things take a turn for the worse. Fans invaded the pitch and clashed with Lyon players before the game, and when the same thing happened at half-time the game was abandoned.

Bastia are now awaiting their punishment, which could be a points deduction and several games played behind closed doors or away from their home stadium. Relegation now looks more likely and the players will be aggrieved their efforts on the pitch have been undermined.

Bordeaux are chasing a Europa League place and have been in excellent form, especially at home: they've won their last six games (home and away) against sides outside the top four and run up big winning margins in their last three home fixtures: 3-0 v Metz, 5-1 v Montpellier and 3-0 v Guingamp.

All things point towards a comfortable Bordeaux victory so the hosts are the pick on the Asian Handicap.

Lorient v Metz (18th v 15th)
Sat, 19:00 BST

Lorient are odds-on to win this relegation six-pointer but there's little in their form figures to justify such a short price.

The Brittany outfit have improved in recent weeks, winning three of their last four matches, but they were a bit lucky on two occasions and poor at Montpellier last weekend (2-0 defeat). Sitting 18th in the table they've everything to play for but are also under more pressure than the visitors to pick up points.

Metz came within seconds of earning a point in a rearranged fixture at home to PSG on Tuesday night, succumbing only to a Blaise Matuidi injury-time winner. All their recent losses have come against Ligue 1's top sides, but Metz's record against the rest is strong: against all but the top five they're W4-D4-L1 since the start of the year.

Metz also managed to rest several of their first-choice players for the midweek fixture against PSG as this trip to Lorient was always their priority so they should be fit and fresh. A lay of Lorient or Metz on the Asian Handicap are the selections to consider.

Lyon v Monaco (4th v 1st)
Sun, 20:15 BST
Live on BT Sport 1

Monaco are a remarkably big price of [2.64] to win in Lyon on Sunday night when you consider the form and state of mind of these two teams going into the game.

The Principality outfit once again underlined their credentials with their impressive 3-1 Champions League quarter-final second leg win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night. They're playing some of the best football in Europe right now so are capable of going to a place like Lyon and picking up all 3pts.

Monaco also have every reason to be motivated. Level on points with PSG at the top of the Ligue 1 table having played one game fewer, Monaco need to win in order to be sure of maintaining their advantage on goal difference over their nearest rivals.

This is a great time to play Lyon as their season is effectively all about the Europa League. They moved into the semi-finals of that competitions thanks to their penalty shoot-out win over Besiktas on Thursday night and won't do anything to jeopardise their chances of making the final in Solna on May 24. Lyon are talented enough to avoid defeat this weekend, but Ligue 1 simply doesn't matter as much anymore.

Monaco to win at [2.64] is worth considering but we prefer Monaco Draw No Bet. With our selection you get your money back if the game ends all-square.
