The Big Wednesday Multiple: Barcelona to win at generous odds

It's a rare treat to find Barcelona at such a big price
It's a rare treat to find Barcelona at such a big price

It's that time of the week where Paul Robinson selects a home win, an away win, a match to go over 2.5 goals and a match to go under 2.5 goals. Here are his selections:

"Back Valencia @ 1.36 (4/11)

Back Barcelona @ 1.85 (17/20)

Back Over 2.5 Goals in Dinamo Zagreb v Bayern Munich @ 1.57 (4/7)

Back Under 2.5 Goals in Chelsea v Porto @ 1.7 (8/13)

The Multiple pays approximately 6.36 (11/2)"

Bet 1: Valencia (HOME) @ 1.36 (4/11)

Gary Neville is in charge for the first time tonight and while he may not be able to guarantee qualification into the last 16 of the Champions League, he should be able to guide them to a victory this evening.

The Spaniards face a Lyon team who have collected just one point from their five matches to date and they have also lost three of their last four in Ligue One.

Valencia are relying on Gent not beating Zenit but whatever the result in Belgium, the simple fact is that they have to win to have any chance of finishing second.

They picked up an impressive draw against Barcelona on Saturday and the players will surely be further boosted by having the former Sky Sports pundit on the touchline.

Bet 2: Barcelona (AWAY) @ 1.85 (17/20)

It's not often that you would see such a big price for a Barcelona victory and while they don't need to get a result, I can't see them slacking off too much.

There is no doubt about it in my eyes, Barcelona are the best team in Europe right now and have one of the greatest attacks of all time. They are scoring goals for fun and even if all three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar don't start tonight, just one of them playing would be good enough.

They travel to Germany to take on a Bayer Leverkusen side who need to win to finish second. There are further permutations regarding qualifying for the Europa League, but the most likely outcome in the other game is a Roma win, meaning that the Germans can't finish second anyway, but would end up third and in the Europa even with a defeat.

Bet 3: Dinamo Zagreb v Bayern Munich (Over 2.5 goals) @ 1.57 (4/7)

The goals are set to flow at Stadion Maksimir as Dinamo Zagreb host Bayern Munich in Group F.

There is nothing on the line in this one as Bayern will finish top and Zagreb can't get off the bottom. It's all about goals for us though and with 17 scored and three conceded, the visitors are seeing their Champions League matches average exactly four goals each time.

It's a similar tale for their domestic fixtures and Pep Guardiola will be hoping for a reaction from his players following the 3-1 defeat to Borussia M'Gladbach at the weekend and they will be in no mood to mess around tonight.

The hosts have also been involved in plenty of goal-fests this term as their games are averaging dead on three goals per 90 minutes - largely thanks to the dozen they have conceded. I fear for their porous defence against Bayern, and even if they can't find the net themselves, it shouldn't be too difficult for the Germans to score all three of the goals that we need.

Bet 4: Chelsea v Porto (Under 2.5 goals) @ 1.61 (8/13)

One match where I can't see many goals being scored comes from Stamford Bridge as Porto travel to Chelsea in a hugely important Group G fixture.

I think it will quite a tense affair and despite Chelsea's woes in the Premier League, they haven't been doing too badly in this competition. They have only conceded three goals in five outings and they sit top of the group - although their qualification still isn't guaranteed.

Porto's hopes of making the last 16 were dealt a huge blow by their 2-0 defeat at home to Dyanmo kiev last time but they still sit in second place as it stands.

Jose Mourinho is the master of doing just enough and while his reputation has been slightly tarnished this season, I think he will have a master game-plan against his former club and that should lead to a low-scoring match.
