Value Hunter: Back big-priced Sweden to pull off a successful Portugese raid

Dangerman Ibrahimovic limbers up to do some damage to Portugal

Two very closely matched teams meet in Lisbon tonight and the Value Hunter cannot believe the huge price available on the away team...

"Though only beaten once, the home side put in a poor qualification effort in a relatively easy group to finish second behind Russia and are far too unreliable to be backed at 1.645/8. In what looks like being a very close game, Sweden cannot be opposed at a huge 6.86/1."

Let's call it the Ronaldo effect.

It seems the presence of a footballing great is masking some inadequacies in Portugal and we have to oppose Paulo Bento's men tonight.

Though only beaten once, the home side put in a poor qualification effort in a relatively easy group to finish second behind Russia and are far too unreliable to be backed at 1.645/8. In what looks like being a very close game, Sweden cannot be opposed at a huge 6.86/1

Both sides are capable of drab performances - witness Sweden's 2-1 defeat to Austria in June and Portugal's struggles against Northern Ireland and Israel throughout qualification - but it is the visitors who have the brightest current form. Only Germany have beaten Erik Hamren's men in the last five, in what was a meaningless fixture anyway.

Sweden scored three goals in that game and, in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, possess their own world-class performer which makes them hugely dangerous at such a huge price.

First legs are usually tight affairs and this could be another Value Hunter selection where the short price favourite doesn't win, but doesn't lose either. That's the game we're playing though and after Sunderland did us proud last weekend, we are going in at a big price once more with Sweden. Come on you Blågult!
