Against All Odds: Goals on a plate at Tigre

Can River Plate pick themselves up following their loss to Cruzeiro?
Can River Plate pick themselves up following their loss to Cruzeiro?

The action comes from Argentina for Paul Robinson today and despite the odds, he thinks that both teams will get on the scoresheet when Tigre entertain River Plate.

"Marcelo Gallardo’s side are the top scorers in the league and 14 of their 24 goals have come on the road."

Hosts, Tigre, have made an excellent start to their campaign as they sit in seventh place after a dozen fixtures. They've won half of their games and they come into this match on a five match unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Tonight they welcome River Plate to Coloso de Victoria with the visitors needing to pick themselves up following a midweek Copa Libertadores loss to Cruzeiro. That was only the first leg of two, but travelling to Brazil with a one goal deficit is not ideal.

Things have been going quite well for Los Millonarios in domestic action though as they are in fifth place, just three points off the top. Considering that they have had to juggle continental football with the Primera Division, fifth place is not a bad position to be in.

Marcelo Gallardo's side are the top scorers in the league and 14 of their 24 goals have come on the road. What will disappoint the manager though is that they have conceded 10 goals themselves away from home - with both teams scoring in five of their half dozen fixtures.

The stats aren't quite as convincing for Tigre as Gustavo Alfaro's men have only scored 14 times and conceded nine this term. They have also kept four clean sheets out of five at home this season, but it's worth noting that they have played Olimpo, Atletico Rafaela, Defensa y Justica, Estudiantes and Nueva Chicago - none of which are in the top 10.

This should be a good game as the hosts are in fantastic form and the visitors will be desperate to put their Libertadores blues behind them. There should be goals in this one, so with 'No' in the BTTS Market trading at around the 1.774/5 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
