This Weekend on Betfair: Nations League, Shanghai Masters, ODI cricket and more
From Newmarket to Shanghai, it's another weekend of sport, so we've selected five stand-out betting events for punters to get stuck into on Betfair...
"At the Shanghai Masters, bettors make Novak Djokovic the favourite as the Serbian bids to extend his stunning form."
Football - Nations League on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
You probably know all about the weird spectacle that will be England playing Croatia behind closed doors in Zagreb. But there are plenty of other Nations League fixtures this weekend which will offer ample betting opportunities. Republic or Ireland v Denmark on Saturday is something of a grudge match for the hosts, while the Netherlands v Germany is always an intense affair. Check out Dan Fitch's Nations League tipsheet for the best bets of the weekend.
Horseracing is complicated and betting on it can be daunting if you're not an expert. So what better way to learn about racing, and find shrewd betting angles, than to read the thoughts of those who work with the horses every day? Paul Nicholls and Gordon Elliott are two of the best trainers in the business and they both write exclusively for this site about their weekend runners. This weekend, Paul has horses running at Chepstow as well as in the big race of the day - the Cesarewitch Stakes at Newmarket - while Gordon has a busy weekend, including 13 in action on Sunday.
Cricket - Second ODI, Sri Lanka v England, 05:30 on Saturday
After Wednesday's first ODI was abandoned due to rain, England will be raring to go against Sri Lanka in the second match of the series (note the early start time, England fans) on Saturday. Like the first ODI, this one takes place in Dambulla, so fingers crossed we won't see another washout. The tourists are firm favourites at the outset, but make sure you read our tipster Ed Hawkins' preview of the match, as he seeks the best bets.
Tennis - Shanghai Masters, on Saturday and Sunday
The Grand Slams are gone for another year but the world's best men's tennis players can still win big rewards at the Shanghai Masters. Now in its tenth year, this indoor tournament is a favourite among players. Defending champion Roger Federer is, at the time of writing, still in the mix, although bettors make Novak Djokovic the favourite as the Serbian bids to extend his stunning form. The final will be played on Sunday and our tennis tipster Dan Weston is previewing every day and recommending bets.
Golf - British Masters, concluding on Sunday
Walton Heath in Surrey is the setting for the British Masters, a fascinating event on the European Tour, which concludes on Sunday afternoon. As you may know by now, golf is a big part of Betting.Betfair and we've assembled a strong list of tipsters to cover everything from first tee to final hole. Read our tournament fact-file, with everything you need to know about the tournament history, course details and potential conditions, as well as Steven "The Punter" Rawlings' in-play blog which is updated across the weekend.
