Andrew Hughes thinks Chelsea will have no trouble beating Crystal Palace on Sunday in another cross-sport weekend multiple
“Under Maurizio Sarri, the Blues are almost unrecognisable from the team that struggled in their 2017-18 title defence, and as his methods become more ingrained, Chelsea are only likely to improve.”
Chelsea have lost two of their last three against Crystal Palace, but at Jack Lang points out in his essential Match Preview, this is a very different Chelsea side.
Under Maurizio Sarri, the Blues are almost unrecognisable from the team that struggled in their 2017-18 title defence, and as his methods become more ingrained, Chelsea are only likely to improve.
Improvement is not a word you would associate with Crystal Palace at the moment, and although Roy Hodgson is a wily campaigner, the Eagles are not offering enough of a goal threat to trouble anyone at the moment. With Eden Hazard back in the starting line-up, this looks like being a comfortable Chelsea win.

The Patriots taking on Green Bay will grab plenty of focus this weekend, but this game between the unbeaten Rams and the in-form Saints could be even better, and a rehearsal for a potential NFC play-off clash.
After their opening day loss, the Saints have won six in a row, while the Rams have an impressive 8-0 record, including a significant 29-27 victory over the Packers last time. But although the Rams have scored narrow road wins at Denver and Seattle this season, the Saints are a cut above those two, and with a raucous home crowd providing a hostile reception for the visitors, New Orleans look the value bet here.
Everyone knew the LeBron James era might be a slow-burner, and no-one thought the Lakers would be ready to challenge Golden State this season, but Lakers fans might have been hoping for more than a 3-5 record at this stage.
Those stats might have been even worse, considering the fright that Dallas gave the Lakers last time, when they fell one point short of making up a 14-point deficit in the last four minutes of the game. The Lakers in general and coach Luke Walton in particular are badly in need of a convincing win in Portland.
But that may be a tall order. The Trail Blazers are 6-2 and warmed up for this game with a 132-119 thrashing of the Pelicans on Thursday. They spoiled the Lakers' party in their opening game, and they look a solid bet to do so again this weekend.
