Andrew Hughes thinks a new-look Arsenal side can hold the reigning champions to a draw on Sunday in another weekend multiple

“Emery has moved quickly to strengthen the Gunners defensively, bringing in the likes of Lucas Torreira, Sokratis and Stephan Lichtsteiner…”

Bet 1: Back Arsenal to draw with Manchester City at [3.9]

Manchester City are favourites to retain their Premier League title but they are likely to face a stronger challenge this season, and one of their main rivals for the crown could be Arsenal, under the leadership of Unai Emery.

Emery has moved quickly to strengthen the Gunners defensively, bringing in the likes of Lucas Torreira, Sokratis and Stephan Lichtsteiner, and they have the creativity to match their visitors through Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

As Alex Keble points out in his Premier League Tactical Preview, Emery is likely to employ a compact counter-attacking strategy for this opening game, and the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Abaumeyang could find space behind the City defence. Back Arsenal to serve notice of their intent by earning a draw.

Bet 2: Back Sri Lanka to beat South Africa at [2.25]2>

South Africa have dominated the one day portion of their Sri Lanka tour so far but the home side got off the mark on Thursday and they can finish the series strongly.

With a 3-0 series win under their belt, South Africa appeared to let their foot off the gas in the fourth game, conceding 306 and then falling short of their Duckworth Lewis-adjusted target. Sri Lanka adopted an unusual bowling strategy, opting for a 6-3 field in the closing overs, but it did the trick and flummoxed the tourists.

Whether those tactics will work again remains to be seen, but now that the home side have found their form and their confidence, they look good value to win Game Five against opponents who may already be thinking of the flight home.

Bet 3: Back Canberra Raiders to beat Wests Tigers at [1.62]

Rugby league punters will be enjoying another busy weekend of betting action and all of the latest tips and previews are available on the Betting.Betfair pages.

Wests Tigers still have hopes of making the NRL play-offs, but they face a tough challenge against Canberra. Although the Raiders have nothing to play for, they are not likely to vary their usual attacking style, which has taken them to the top of the scoring charts - a remarkable stat for a team in tenth position.

The Tigers play a resolute brand of rugby, but their high handling error count is a concern, so despite the Raiders' inconsistency, I'm backing them to edge this one and complete the season double over the visitors.
