Kevin Hatchard's back for another week of betting-based globetrotting, and he's taking us to Norway.
"Rosenborg have scored 31 goals in just nine league games, and four of their last five meetings with Stabaek have featured at least four goals."
Stabaek v Rosenborg
Monday May 25, 17:00
Philadelphia Union did their bit for our mate Tobias, but New York Red Bulls drew a blank and let him down. As he trawls the Big Apple buying energy drinks of every other brand in an act of corporate revenge, we'll take the baton from Mr Gourlay and begin this week's journey.
We're jetting all the way to Norway, and a Tippeligaen clash between the top two, Stabaek and Rosenborg.
Leaders Rosenborg won an extraordinary 17 Norwegian titles between 1990 and 2010. They were a football hipster's dream, and I had a little set of favourite players as I was growing up. Harald Brattbakk banged in the goals, Mini Jakobsen set them up, Roar Strand and Bent Skammelsrud patrolled the midfield, and Erik Hoftun led the defence. Ahh, happy times.
The picture hasn't been so rosy for Rosenborg of late, and they haven't won a title for five years. Upstarts like Molde and Stromsgodset have snatched the limelight, but the men from Trondheim are back on top of the pile.
Rosenborg have smashed in 31 goals in just nine games so far, but today's opponents Stabaek are only two points worse off. Their goalscoring looks relatively modest, with 16 goals in nine, but that's still nearly two per game.
You could look at the fact that Stabaek have only conceded six goals and think we may be in for a tight, low-scoring tussle, but there's plenty of evidence to the contrary. Stabaek's last outing was a 3-3 draw at Molde, and four of their 11 games in all competitions have featured four goals or more.
Rosenborg have seen an Over 3.5 Goals bet pay out in seven of their 11 outings in league and cup, and four of the clubs' last five meetings in all competitions have featured four goals or more.
