Liverpool to go 7 from 7 in style

Sheffield United vs Liverpool - SAT 12:30

SHUvLIV.png

Sheffield United were extremely fortunate to beat Everton last weekend (xG: EVE 1.50 - 0.80 SHU), managing just two shots over 90 minutes. Liverpool were also fortunate to get a win last weekend, as they edged out Chelsea 2-1 (xG: CHE 1.54 - 1.08 LIV), being extra clinical once again. Infogol calculates a 67% chance of Liverpool winning here, with a 55% chance of over 2.5 goals and 52% of BTTS 'no', so all of this point to a comfortable away shutout - 0-3.

Pressure to pile on Dean Smith

Aston Villa vs Burnley - SAT 15:00

ASTvBUR.png

Aston Villa blew a huge opportunity to take a massive scalp last time out, as they were 2-1 up against 10-man Arsenal with just 10 minutes left, only to lose 3-2. Defensive issues remain a huge problem for Villa, with Dean Smith's side conceding an average of 1.87 xGA per game. Burnley got their second win of the season against Norwich (xG: BUR 2.11 - 0.91 NOR), an impressive display, and it is worth noting that their two league defeats this term have come against Arsenal and Liverpool. Infogol makes Burnley favourites to win this game (37%), while suggesting we won't see fireworks (47% BTTS, 59% under 2.5 goals), another away shutout - 0-2.

Cherries to keep with 3-1 theme

Bournemouth vs West Ham - SAT 15:00

BOUvWHU.png

Bournemouth were again fortunate to win against Southampton, as they continue to allow good scoring chances while being extremely clinical themselves. West Ham were hugely flattered by their 2-0 success against Manchester United (xG: WHU 0.49 - 1.22 MUN), arguably deserving to lose the game according to xG. Both of these sides are conceding an average of over 2 xGA per game, so expect chances and goals here. Infogol makes Bournemouth strong favourites to win this one (47%), while over 2.5 goals (68%) and BTTS (68%) are likely. The Cherries last four league games have ended with a 3-1 scoreline either way, so lets stay with that theme - 3-1.

Rare clean-sheet for Chelsea

Chelsea vs Brighton - SAT 15:00

CHEvBRI.png

Chelsea were unfortunate to lose to Liverpool, as a draw would have been a fairer reflection of the game, and that was one of their better defensive displays of the season to date, so the signs are good. Brighton continue to impress on underlying numbers without making their dominant performances count, something that will no doubt be frustrating Graham Potter. The Seagulls do pose an attacking threat, but could be limited here by an improving Chelsea defence. Infogol goes 59% chance of a Chelsea win, 54% chance of under 2.5 goals and a 55% chance of BTTS 'no' - 2-0.

Eagles to beat Canaries

Crystal Palace vs Norwich - SAT 15:00

CRYvNOR.png

Crystal Palace were seconds away from securing a third win of the season last weekend against Wolves, but a 1-1 draw was a fairer result than a 1-0 Palace win would have been. Norwich were well beaten by Burnley last weekend, as they continue to concede a host of chances in matches, with their xGA average now up to 2.04. Palace are given a 53% chance of winning by Infogol, with a 52% chance of BTTS and 51% chance of over 2.5 goals - 2-1.

No let up for Tottenham

Tottenham vs Southampton - SAT 15:00

TOTvSOU.png

Tottenham were beaten yet again in the Premier League, this time by Leicester, and they capped off a miserable week by getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Colchester. Spurs remain defensively vulnerable, allowing 1.53 xGA per game, so could be caught out again. Southampton have been one of the more unlucky teams in the league this season, as they sit 13th in the table, but up in 6th in Infogol's xG table. They have the attacking talent to cause Spurs a real threat here (1.80 xGF per game), and Infogol calculates a 47% chance of them getting something (which represents value), with a 55% chance of BTTS - 1-1.

Wolves to edge battle of winless teams

Wolves vs Watford - SAT 15:00

WOLvWAT.png

These two sides are the only teams in the Premier League without a win this season, so both are desperate heading into this clash. Wolves arguably deserved all three points against Crystal Palace last weekend, and against Everton two weeks ago, with their underlying process not as bad as results would suggest. Watford were embarrassed by Manchester City in an 8-0 mauling, a game in which they conceded 6.14 xGA - more in one game than Manchester United and Leicester have allowed in six. Defensive issues remain a worry for Watford, with Infogol calculating Wolves have a 58% chance of winning here, with a high chance of both BTTS (58%) and over 2.5 goals (61%) - 3-1.

Another defeat for Everton

Everton vs Manchester City - SAT 17:30

EVEvMCY.png

Everton were unlucky to lose against Sheffield United last weekend, though again struggled to create 'big' chances, generating just one (Kean, 40%). Interestingly, Everton have created just seven 'big' chances (greater than 35% chance of being scored) this season, the same number as Manchester City created in one game against Watford (created 21 in six games). City look to have their defensive solidity back in place after a hat-trick of clean sheets in all competitions and will likely keep Everton a bay here. Infogol gives the champions a 62% chance of getting the win, with a 53% chance of over 2.5 goals and a 52% chance of BTTS 'no' - 0-3.

Back the 0-3 @ 8.515/2

Foxes on the prowl

Leicester vs Newcastle - SUN 16:30

LEIvNEW.png

Leicester made a statement with their win over Tottenham last weekend, with Brendan Rodgers' team now thrust into the top four conversation - not just top six. Newcastle remain with just one win this season following a 0-0 draw with Brighton last weekend, as their attacking issues remain, with Steve Bruce's side the worst attacking team in the league (0.85 xGF per game). Leicester a fancied to win 58%, with a 58% chance of both BTTS 'no' and under 2.5 goals, so a low scoring home shutout - 2-0.

Back the 2-0 @ 6.05/1

United to edge out Arsenal

Manchester United vs Arsenal - MON 20:00

MNUvARS.png

Manchester United were extremely unfortunate to lose to West Ham last weekend, another performance in which the 'won' the xG battle without getting the three points (xG: WHU 0.49 - 1.22 MUN). United boast the best defensive process in the league this season (0.74 xGA per game), but do need to improve in attack (1.16 non-pen xGF per game) - though fortunately for them they are facing Arsenal's defence. The Gunners eventually got the three points against Aston Villa, but were again all over the place defensively, allowing a Villa side that rank as one of the worst attacking teams in the league to generate nearly 2 xG. While Arsenal sit fourth in the table, Unai Emery's side rank as the 13th best team on xG, with the fourth worst defensive process in the entire Premier League (1.98 xGA per game). United should be bolstered by the returns of Paul Pogba and perhaps Anthony Martial for this game, which will help their attacking process, but are likely to create chances even without those too, so bad is Arsenal's defence. United are given a 52% chance of winning this one, with a 61% chance of both over 2.5 goals and BTTS - 2-1.
