Kev's searching for a third straight winner, and he's checking in with a famous football name.
"Parma have won their last four games, while Cittadella's form has fallen apart in recent weeks."
Parma v Cittadella
Friday April 13, 20:00
Rarely have we been so glad to see a goalless stalemate. Huesca's poor form continued last night as they were held by Albacete, and we bagged another winner.
Given the recent wave of nostalgia for Italian football and its coverage on Channel 4, we'll make our own contribution to Golazzo fever by remembering Parma. Back in the 1990s, Parma were UEFA Cup winners twice and also lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. They won the Coppa Italia twice in that decade, and finished as Serie A runners-up in 1997. The likes of Gianfranco Zola, Gigi Buffon, Tino Asprilla, Hernan Crespo, Fabio Cannavaro and Tomas Brolin all wore the famous white strip as Parma thrilled fans in Italy and beyond.
Recent history hasn't been so kind, with the club going bankrupt in 2015 and dropping to Serie D. Three years later, Parma are pushing for a return to the top flight. They have found their form at the right time, winning their last four games to move to within two points of the automatic promotion spots with eight games left.
Veteran striker Emanuele Calaio has banged in 12 Serie B goals at the age of 35, and the club has been boosted by a number of smart loan signings like midfielder Jacopo Dezi and defender Riccardo Gagliolo. At the Ennio Tardini stadium, Parma are unbeaten since October, and have won eight of their last 12 games.
Cittadella are clinging onto a playoff place, but they are running out of steam. They were smacked 5-1 at Ternana last weekend, their third straight defeat. They haven't won since the first week of March, and they lost the reverse fixture 2-1 to Parma back in November.
Parma are [1.94] to take three points, and that seems generous to me.
