After a winning start to the week, Kev's looking for more profit in Germany.
"Osnabruck have smashed in 18 goals in their last five home matches, and both teams need to go for the win."
Osnabruck v Karlsruhe
Wednesday February 14, 18:00
We were made to wait, but Glentoran came through for us in the end as their 90th-minute goal at Carrick Rangers gave them a 2-1 victory and us an odds-against winner. Who needs the Champions League for excitement, eh?
Back to Germany now for a second crack at the lower leagues this week. We're taking a swing at the Dritte Liga tonight, as relegation-threatened Osnabruck face a Karlsruhe team that hasn't yet given up on promotion.
Karlsruhe were seconds away from promotion to the top flight in 2015, only for Hamburg's Marcelo Diaz to shatter their dreams with a last-gasp free-kick. Now they find themselves out of the top two divisions of German football. However, a 12-match unbeaten run has sparked hopes that they can escape the third tier this term. On the road, KSC have gone five unbeaten, a sequence that includes victory at the leaders Paderborn.
Osnabruck are 15 points worse off, and are just six points above the dropzone. They thrashed third-bottom Chemnitzer 6-1 in their last home game, but that remains their only victory since the turn of the year. They have however won four of their last five games at the Bremer Brucke, scoring 18 goals in the process.
Given Karlsruhe's long unbeaten run, there's an argument to be made for backing them Draw No Bet at [2.14], but I'm going for Over 2.5 Goals at [2.2]. Osnabruck have scored at least twice in their last five home games, and an overs bet has paid out in seven of their last ten outings. KSC have rattled in seven goals in their last five away games, and these sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw back in July.
