Home and Away: TPS looking to extend decent home form at the expense of Lahti

TPS are looking to extend their impressive home form in the Veikkausliiga

We're off to Finland for our first tip of the week - and previewing action in the Veikkausliiga, as TPS host Lahti at the Veritas Stadion.

The home side go into this clash in impressive form on their own patch, and have lost just one of their last eight in front of their own fans, which will give them much confidence ahead of this encounter.

Boss Marco Rajamaki has seen his charges win three and draw two of their last five at home, and that suggests that the Turku side do possess the necessary cutting edge to take maximum points from this game - and pile the pressure on the top six.

The hosts currently sit seventh in the top tier, but are at a slight disadvantage having played three games less than the majority of their counterparts, and will be desperate to produce some momentum in order to propel themselves up the table.

And 13 goals scored in their last eight on their own patch suggests that the home side have enough quality in the final third to punish their out of sorts opponents here.

Lahti travel to this clash sitting second bottom of the division, and their inconsistent form looks like it could cost them this season.

The visitor's form is not too bad on their own patch, but their results on the road leave a lot to be desired - and they have failed to win in eight of their last 10 on the road.

Nine goals conceded in their last three away from the Lahden Stadion suggests that the away side have weaknesses at the back, and I reckon that could cost them as they travel to Turku.

Back to more familiar climes now, as we return to England, where Preston face local rivals Blackpool in the first round of the League Cup.

North End managed a 0-0 draw with Wolves at the weekend, and that is a decent enough result to kick off the new campaign, but it makes three consecutive games since the Whites scored a goal, and that lack of threat in the final third may be a worry to boss Simon Grayson.

The hosts moved to bring in Kevin Davies over the summer, and he will certainly provide them with some muscle up top - but he is more of a supplier than a finisher, and it remains to be seen whether he will provide goals.

Grayson will be pleased though by the form of his backline - and his well-drilled defence has kept four clean sheets in a row on their own patch.

Blackpool make the short trip to Deepdale buoyed by a 3-1 win at Doncaster on Saturday, and boss Paul Ince will be desperate for his side to build on that result here.

That leaves the Tangerines sitting second in the Championship, and eight goals scored in their last four second tier outings underlines just how lethal the visitors can be in the final third.

Blackpool have lost just once in seven meetings with PNE, and make no mistake - cup game or not, they will be desperate to beat against their local rivals here.

Bet 2: Blackpool (AWAY) @ 2.4
