Home and Away: Rotherham value to give Villa a shock on their own patch

Paul Lambert's side will be keen to avoid a demoralising loss at home here

Jonno Turner looks to build on two winners last night - as he focuses his attention on more League Cup action tonight...

We're off to Nottingham for our first pick of the day - as an in-form Forest side welcomes struggling Millwall to the City Ground in the Capital One Cup.

Billy Davies has seen his charges get off to a flying start in the Championship this campaign, and will be desperate to maintain that momentum as the Reds eye promotion back to the big time.

Four wins and a draw from their opening five outings underlines just how dominant the hosts have looked in recent weeks, and three clean sheets in that time suggests that their backline has played a large part in that success.

A 3-1 defeat of lower league Hartlepool in the last round of this competition saw Forest win at a canter, and they will be keen to secure passage into the next round of this cup in order to give themselves a chance of getting a money-spinning third round draw against one of the big boys.

Davies could make changes to his line up tonight - but he has several players back in contention for a place, and Forest will go with a strong XI here as they bid to continue the form they have shown in recent weeks.

Millwall travel up the M1 in the midst of a miserable start to the season, and are still without a win in the league, which leaves them sitting at the bottom of the table.

Steve Lomas' side narrowly scraped past AFC Wimbledon in the last round of this competition with a 2-1 victory - but things will be very different in the Midlands, and it will be interesting to see how the Lions fare against one of the fancied sides in the second tier.

The visitors have only managed to score a goal in one of their last four league outings, and that indicates a lack of cutting edge in the final third, which could be costly against one of the tightest defences at that level.

And to make matters worse, strikers Steve Morison and Jermaine Easter are both likely to miss this clash through injury.

Bet 1: Nottingham Forest (HOME) @ 1.75/7

Staying in this competition for our second selection - and I'm eyeing a potential shock, as Rotherham travel to Aston Villa.
Steve Evans' side go into this clash full of confidence following 10 games unbeaten - and appear to have adjusted to life in the third tier well, sitting in the top half of League One after the opening exchanges.

The Millers certainly possess the quality to punish their hosts - and will be buoyed by a positive run of form on their travels which has seen them unbeaten in four - winning three and drawing one.

A defeat of local rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the last round of this competition will have the South Yorkshire side full of momentum as they visit Villa Park, and they will be desperate to snatch a shock win here in order to boost their campaign.

An interesting note is that the visitors have managed a goal in six of their last seven Capital One Cup outings - all against higher opposition - and I reckon they pose real value here, particularly as a Cash Out opportunity.

Paul Lambert's side have had a tough start to the campaign - facing Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in their opening trio of clashes - and, following an opening day win against the Gunners, they have succumbed to two losses.

The hosts are likely to give some new players their first taste of action this season - and will need to be on their guard if they are to avoid a humiliating home scalp by the Millers.

Just one win from five home outings - and no clean sheets in 14 on their own patch - suggests that the Premier League side are certainly beatable on their own patch, and I reckon that Rotherham pose the best value of all the underdogs this evening.
