Kev's whisking us away to Argentina, and he's backing top-flight hosts to overcome third-tier opposition.
"Godoy Cruz finished second in their section of the top tier, while tonight's opponents were second-bottom in the third division."
Godoy Cruz v Estudiantes De Caseros
Tuesday 19 July, 21:10
Football doesn't always make a whole lot of sense, which I guess is why we love it. I didn't love it too much last night though, as rock-bottom Gefle beat our boys Kalmar 4-2 in Sweden. Gefle had lost their previous eight matches. We move on.
We want a different result, so we're heading for a different continent tonight. Top-flight club Godoy Cruz are hosting Prim B Metro side Estudiantes De Caseros in the Copa Argentina.
Godoy Cruz are coming off the back of an excellent season in the shortened Primera Division. This campaign only lasted 15 games, and Godoy Cruz finished just a point adrift of Group A winners San Lorenzo, who went on to be bashed 4-0 in the playoff final by Lanus.
Sadly for Godoy Cruz, they then failed to qualify for the Copa Libertadores, as they lost 1-0 at home to Estudiantes, so the Copa Argentina is a chance to redeem their season.
A team that has won six of its last eight home games should have little trouble dealing with an Estudiantes Caseros side that finished second-bottom in the third tier, with just 18 points collected from 19 games. The Matador has struggled to tame the bull on the road - Estuadiantes De Caseros have won just one of their last ten away games.
I think 1.68/13 is pretty generous for the home win, but I'm happy to be greedier and back the hosts -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 2.11.
Back Godoy Cruz -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 2.11
