Football Bet of the Day: Keep Kalm and back the visitors

We're in Sweden this evening
We're in Sweden this evening

Kevin Hatchard's back in charge of our globetrotting, and we start the week in Scandinavia.

"Gefle have lost their last eight games in the Allsvenskan, and are yet to win at home. Kalmar are chasing a third consecutive away win."

Back Kalmar to win at 2.1411/10

Gefle v Kalmar
Monday July 18, 18:00

Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation know you should never trust something with Borg in the title, and it was Elfsborg that helped bring down Tobias yesterday. Their 1-1 draw with IFK Gothenburg was two goals short.

While TG enjoys a deserved bit of fun in the sun, we're off to Sweden, home of newly-crowned Open golf champion Henrik Stenson. Occasionally I tear myself away from football minutiae, and I thoroughly enjoyed Stenson's battle with Phil Mickelson - sport at its best.

Anyway, it's time for us to focus on Gefle v Kalmar in the top-flight Allsvenskan. Gefle are on the slide, rock-bottom after a run of eight straight defeats. After just 13 games, they have a goal difference of minus 22, and at home they have taken just two points from six matches. So far this term they have been smashed 6-2, 6-1 and 4-0.

Kalmar made a slow start to the campaign, but they have found their feet, putting together a five-match unbeaten run. More encouragingly, they have won their last two away games at Djurgarden and Falkenberg, who are also struggling. It shows Kalmar have no problem putting away sides who are down on their luck.

Since April 2014, Kalmar have won three of their four meetings with this evening's opponents, and given the awful run the hosts are on, I'm happy to back the visitors at 2.1411/10.
