Football Bet of the Day: Join the Dallas Layers Club

LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Even without the talismanic Zlatan, LA Galaxy can pick up a result tonight

We're heading stateside tonight, and Kev thinks FC Dallas shouldn't be such firm favourites against LA Galaxy.

"Dallas may take a while to get going under new coach Luchi Gonzalez, and they have won just one of their last five home games in MLS."

Lay FC Dallas at [1.71]

Dallas to stumble at home again

FC Dallas v LA Galaxy
Saturday 09 March, 20:30

Just like Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco, we stared into the middle distance, as we contemplated another damaging defeat for the Royal Blues last night. Schalke actually put in a much-improved display against Werder Bremen, and led after half an hour, but they crumbled to a 4-2 defeat to halt our winning streak.

We're grabbing our ten-gallon hats and heading to Dallas, because the MLS season is underway, and we'll take in an early clash between FC Dallas and LA Galaxy.

Dallas started their campaign with an unimpressive 1-1 draw against New England, and it may take a while for the team to find top gear under new coach Luchi Gonzalez, who recently replaced FC Dallas stalwart Oscar Pareja. Gonzalez was the academy director, and while he is expected to comfortably make the transition to the seniors, there may be teething troubles.

LA Galaxy started the season with a comeback victory against Chicago Fire, and although they'll be without the technically-gifted Romain Alessandrini, midfielder Sebastian Lletget is back. Charismatic and lavishly talented skipper Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to miss out with an Achilles problem, but there could be a debut for USA international midfielder Joe Corona.

I suspect FC Dallas' odds of [1.71] are based on the fact they have beaten LA Galaxy in each of the clubs' last four meetings, but if you stretch back into last season, Dallas have won just one of their last five home games in MLS. We aren't asking if a Zlatan-less LA can win, just if they can avoid defeat. Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto doesn't have many attacking weapons at his disposal for this one, but he'll have speed and technical quality in midfield, and I'd expect LA to pack the centre of the park.

I think Dallas are a bit too short for the win at [1.71], so let's lay them.
