Eagles to prove vulnerable in South Wales
Bet 1: Back Swansea @ 13/5 - KO 19:30 BST
The Swans had started life in the Championship quite well with two wins and two draws from their opening four fixtures. The shine came off the season slightly on Saturday, as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Bristol City, so they will be aiming to get back on the winning trail this evening, ahead of their trip to Millwall on Saturday.
Crystal Palace are the visitors tonight and the Premier League outfit are the favourites to get the win. While I do actually think that Roy Hodgson's men will do well in the league this term, they were involved in a pretty intense game at Watford on Sunday.
The Eagles lost that match by two goals to one, and as that was their second straight defeat, their focus might well be on their home game against Southampton on Saturday.
I am far from convinced that Hodgson will play his strongest XI here, and this could be a good time to play them. Yes, the hosts did lose on this ground last time out, but they are historically quite strong at home, and 13/5 is a nice price.
Bielsa's army to keep marching on together
Bet 2: Back Leeds @ 19/20 - KO 19:45 BST
Marcelo Bielsa's dream start at Leeds continued at the weekend as they won 3-0 at Carrow Road, and it's difficult to see them not beating Preston at Elland Road tonight - even if the manager changes a few players.
Leeds remain undefeated this season, with four wins and a draw in the Championship and a further victory in the last round of this competition. They beat the in-form Bolton on that day, and they are yet to score less than two goals in a match.
Opponents, Preston, have failed to score on their last two outings - losing them both 2-0. The first was at Norwich and the second at Derby, which are of course tricky fixtures, but it's worth remembering that Leeds have already won on both of those grounds this year - 3-0 and 4-1 respectively.
Alex Neil's men have lost all three of their away games this season, and they are yet to score a goal. Therefore I am at a slight loss to explain why you can back the home team at just shy of evens.
Rams to pile more misery on Hull
Bet 3: Back Derby @ 8/5 - KO 19:45 BST
Hull City haven't made a great start to their campaign as after five Championship fixtures, they sit down in 19th, with just four points to their name. Their sole win came at the newly promoted, Rotherham, and at home they have been beaten by 3-1 by Aston Villa and 1-0 by Blackburn.
It doesn't get any easier for Nigel Adkins' side this evening as the visitors to the KCOM are Derby. Frank Lampard's team are up to sixth thanks to back to back 2-0 wins at Pride Park, and on the road they have already won at Reading and Oldham - the latter being in the previous round of this competition.
The hosts struggled at home last season too - winning just three of their final 12 in front of their own fans - and it's now four straight defeats at the KCOM.
