The Daily Acca: Sao Paulo to be held at home by Gremio
The Brazilian actions continues into Thursday as Paul Robinson has picked out a 12/1 Daily Acca that starts with goals at Flamengo. Here are his selections:
Attackers to lead the way in Rio de Janeiro
Bet 1: Back BTTS in Flamengo v Santos @ 21/20 - KO 19:00 GMT
Flamengo's title challenge has petered out after such a promising start and they are now in a battle to even finish in the top four, a finish which would see them automatically qualify for next season's Copa Libertadores.
They come into this game having taken just two points from a possible nine, and they were beaten last time out at Botafogo. Scoring goals hasn't proved to be an issue for them however as Dorival Júnior's men have found the net in each of their six most recent outings, and two of their last three at home have seen this selection land.
Santos fell to a hugely surprising defeat at home to Chapecoense on Monday, which means they come into this game on the back of two straight losses.
That being said, Cuca, has still done a magnificent job since he took over at the club a few months ago, and they are still in the hunt for a Libertadroes Qualifier spot.
As far as the goals go, the visitors are currently on a run of scoring in each of their last eight away matches, and with seven conceded across their last four, I am rather hopeful of goals at both ends tonight.
Chapecoense to follow up Santos victory
Bet 2: Back Chapecoense @ 6/5 - KO 19:00 GMT
I touched on Chapecoense's victory at Santos, above, and what a vital win it was. Claudinei Oliveira's men had a miserable away record prior to that - no win all season and 11 defeats from 16 overall - but they dug deep and earned a massive three points.
They still have work to do however, as they are 17th of 20, and the bottom four go down. This is a game in hand for them tonight though, and a win would see them move up to 14th.
Winning at home hasn't proven to be such a stumbling block for 'Verdao' this term as they have recorded eight victories already - four of which came from their six most recent outings in front of their own fans.
Opponents, Botafogo, are in 12th and they are battling for a place in the Copa Sudamericana, while also looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
They travel to Chapeco on the back of two straight wins, but they were both at home, and on the road it's just two victories all season - with seven defeats from their last 10.
André Jardine to start with a point
Bet 3: Back The Draw in Sao Paulo v Gremio @ 19/10 - KO 21:00 GMT
The big news ahead of this fixture is that Sao Paulo have dismissed with manager, Diego Aguirre, following their title bid coming to an end.
Sao Paulo topped the table at different points this year, but they are now in fifth, and in a battle to finish in the top four. Three of their last four ended all square, and they have their work cut out to beat Gremio.
The visitors are fourth - level on points with the hosts. They have won their last two games, and one of those was away at Atletico Mineiro.
Given the league situation, a point wouldn't be a terrible result for them tonight, and I could imagine Renato Portaluppi settling for one if the scores are level in the second half.
