As the countdown to the World Cup reaches the four day mark, Paul Robinson turns his attentions to the national league of tournament favourites, Brazil. Here are his selections:
The Acca pays approximately 7/2
Rooster to continue crowing
Bet 1: Back Atletico MG @ 11/20 - KO 20:00 BST
The hosts came out on top in their local derby against America Mineiro on Thursday and that will have given them a big confidence boost following a run of three matches that saw them take just a single point.
Thiago Larghi's side are now back up to fifth in the Campeonato and they will be aiming to improve massively on last year's disappointing ninth placed finish. Their win percentage this term is at 50% and they have already won three of their five on this ground - including a 1-0 success over reigning champions, Corinthians.
Opponents, Fluminense, were beaten at home during the week and that was their second successive defeat. The loss on Thursday to Flamengo can be excused, but prior to that they were defeated by Serie A new-boys, Parana, who are currently in the relegation zone.
On their travels it's three defeats from five this season for Abel Braga's side, and it's just one point from a possible nine most recently.
Big Green to kick Ceara while they're down
Bet 2: Back Palmeiras @ 3/4 - KO 20:00 BST
The champions of two years ago travel to Ceara this evening and I can't see anything other than an away win.
Palmeiras are fourth in the standings after 10 fixtures and they have games in hand over Sport Recife and Sao Paulo above them. Victories over Sao Paulo and Gremio - two of the better teams in the division - would have banished the memories of back to back defeats, and they have already won twice on the road this season.
The hosts are rock bottom of the Campeonato and they were always expected to struggle following their promotion from the second tier. They are yet to record a victory at this new higher level, as they have drawn four and lost six of their 10 matches.
Lisca's men ended a run of four straight defeats during the week by drawing 0-0 at Botafogo, but it was a game in which they again failed to find the net - their fourth on the bounce.
Goals few and far between at Gremio
Bet 3: Back Under 2.5 Goals in Gremio v America MG @ 4/6 - KO 20:00 BST
We conclude with another Brazilian Serie A fixture and this time I can't see many goals when Gremio take on America MG in Porto Alegre.
Renato Portaluppi and his players dropped to seventh this week as they suffered only their second defeat of the campaign - a 2-0 loss on this ground to Palmeiras. It was their sixth match in a row in all competitions to see this selection land and four of their five home league games this season have had two goals or fewer - including a trio of 0-0's.
America MG were beaten on Thursday and it was their third loss in the space of four outings. They are still doing okay up in 12th place however, and they would gladly take a point at Gremio tonight.
Away from home it's one draw and three losses from four attempts this year, and they failed to score in two of those matches - both of which saw under 2.5 backers collect.
